Texas State Railroad

March 1, 2014

My brother, Ben, and I made a quick trip up to Palestine and Rusk so I could get the footage I needed to finish out the DVD. This was opening day for 2014, but all the steam locomotives were down for maintenance. MA 7 will be the first out in a few weeks. T&G 28 will soon follow with T&P 316 hitting the rails again later in the summer.

Our focus this day was west of the Palestine Depot and east of the Rusk Depot. So, we didn't chase at all.

This is an exciting and unexpected find. A REBUILT siding near County Road 323.

This can only mean that freight is soon to follow.

Special thanks to Kevin Gentry for telling me that the remains of this spur were at Dean Wright.

I've been there dozens of times and never noticed it!

This spur once served the Dean & Wright Lumber Company.

TSR #8 pulled the Palestine-based train this day
