Rio Grande Explorations

Gonzales, Texas

May 1, 2017

I had the occasion to visit Gillett, Texas for work. Took 3 hours to get there and then 15 minutes to do the job. So, with some time to kill on the way home, I stopped in Gonzales to see the "Come and Take It" canon that kicked off the Texas Revolution in 1835.

Just about 3 blocks north of the canon is the southern end of the Texas, Gonzales and Northern Railroad. So, I grabbed a few photos on the way out. Even caught a train near town.

I waited for a bit, hoping for a better shot. But, the crew backed into the spur, dashing my chance.
