Texas State Railroad April 27-28, 2019
|
In September 2018, while I was editing this video at the Rio Chama RV Park in Chama, NM, Pete Lerro called me to discuss a photography charter on the TSR. He had talked to Greg Udolph (TSR GM) about it and Greg suggested he call me. While this is quite a boost to my ego, I shall refrain from getting a big head. =)
Pete and I had a good chat and in exchange for assisting him with planning and supplying some of my photos, he gave me a comp'd ticket for the trip.
On the way up, just east of Crockett, I ran into an area that appeared to have been logged. After further investigation I realized that it was the result of a tornado. The damage was extreme. Far more than I've ever seen (in person) before. Tree trunks and other debris was piled 5' high on the shoulders. It was a real mess. When I got to my hotel in Jacksonville I asked the desk clerk about it and she said it had happened the week prior and that several people were killed.
This was the best charter I've been a part of on the TSR. Pete did a heckuva great job!

Video montage from the weekend Unlike the photo report below, these clips are in the order they were shot.

Over the course of 2 days, we moved around the railroad liberally in search of the best light at each location. We hit some locations 3 and 4 times throughout the day... and night. To follow the trip as we did it wouldn't make any sense, so I'm doing something different this time and breaking the report up by location. |

This was my view for the better part of 2 days... when I wasn't taking photos. It was a darn good weekend!
