Mud Tunnel, New Mexico

Mud Tunnel (officially known as Toltec Tunnel #1) is one of only two tunnels on the entire Rio Grande Narrow Gauge system. Fortunately, along with Rock Tunnel, both survive today.
Located at MP 311.3, the tunnel is 349 feet long and was constructed in 1880 during the lines initial construction to Durango and Silverton. |
