Phantom Curve, Colorado

Phantom Curve is located at MP 312.3, just over 6 miles east of Osier. It's name is derived from the ghosts, or "phantoms", reportedly seen here by D&RG train crews in the early years. The generally accepted theory is that the headlight of the locomotives reflected off of the unusual rock pillar formations creating some rather wild illusions. In recent years night-time excursions have reported seeing similar "phantoms".
