Houston Railroad Museum

After work on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 I headed over to the Houston RR Museum to listen to Doug Weiskopf speak about his new book "Rails Around Houston."

I was so impressed with the book that I bought a second copy for my grandfather who was raised in Downtown Houston during the 30's.

Prior to the meeting I walked around the yard and grabbed a few pictures. Unfortunately my camera had been sitting in my truck for a few weeks and the hot Texas sun wiped out my batteries AND both sets of spares. So, I only managed a handful of shots before the juice ran out. It's been many years since my last visit here and I'm impressed with the progress.

The MKT and SP cabeese have recently

been painted and look GREAT.

MKT 6 was a regular on the Houston - Galveston run, often called "The Salty"

I believe HBT 14 is a fairly recent acquisition.

Nicely rebuilt semaphore signal. My guess is that this is probably from the SP
