I took some great shots of the Motor cars today, thought I would share them with you!!!

You know I have asked people about this Locomotive and nobody knows about it, so I thought I would share it with you, You are looking at Santa Fe Locomotive 5030, a 2-10-4 Locomotive and she is sitting in a park in Santa Fe, New Mexico and we will get a extensive look at her next week.

Now don't tell anybody, I had to jump a fence to get these shots, the Locomotive is in a park out in the open but behind a fence, does that make sense???

Say hello to Iva Mehring and Nicole Gibson, they are both Employee's of Garcia's of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Now I have to say, this place serve's the best Chicken Enchilada's I have ever had, they are superb!!!!!!! This place is highly "TWINKY APPROVED".

Let me Introduce to a very Talented Musician.. Robby Rothschild! I was very honored to talk with him for a few minute's in Lake City, Colorado and would like to apologize to him that I was unable to stay and listen to him perform with his brother in Lake City.

But I was so pleased to say he gave me a CD of His Music and I can't believe I didn't remember to have him Autograph it for me!!!!

I would like to wish one of my Friends Ashley and her twin sister Jessica, A very Happy 19th Birthday....

Have a great time for your Birthday, be safe and best wishes....

Monday the 15th of August.

How about a few Reflections.

I was coaling up 484 this morning and noticed the reflection....

I thought what a great shot, this is something you only see after heavy rains..

This little dip fills with water and with the rains we had it has been sticking around.

Locomotive 484 at the Antonito Coaling Ramp.

And nothing but water.

Views from Chama, New Mexico... Tuesday the 16th of August.

Fire Patrol sits above the Ash Pit ready to roll over behind the water tank and on to the mainline for this Mornings run to Antonito.

I love this Machine, My Grandfather told me the Big Bosses would ride this to inspect the line...

How about some work done by the friends.

This is one of the Flatcars the Rio Grande re-built to haul pipe, you can see the rails added to strengthen the deck of the flatcar.

How about a view of the freshly repainted tank cars.

Man, they look Awesome don't they.

The skies were gloomy in Chama this morning, so the picture's are a little off.

And another view of the Fire Patrol.

Locomotive 488 is ready to go.....

I have built a good fire and 488 is now just waiting to roll.

How about a few wide angle views of 488.

We climbed Cumbres Pass today in a Major rainstorm..

Heavy Rain all the way, actually as we climbed out of Lobato Trestle I looked back and saw the rain coming towards us... Milepost 337 and the rain came over and soaked us.

Hope you like these views of 488.

There's Jeff at the controls of 488.

And we make another run up Cumbres successfully, 488 did great hauling the train up the grade in the heavy rain.

After a rainy morning, we arrived at Osier under a Beautiful sky.

488 and train 216 sit in Osier, Colorado.

A close-up of 488.

488 performed beautifully today.

She is great locomotive and steams like a champ.

Love the blue skies over this railroad.

Caboose 05635 is taking shape, I wanted to get shots for you during the rebuild.

I just really like this Car, its a beauty.

Since these picture's were taken, they have put on the wood exterior tongue and groove.

A boxcar is being rebuilt in Chama, thought you might like to see the work being done.

The end of the boxcar, this side will have the little sliding door.

And the solid end.

A view of the interior...

A view of the work being done on the roof.

And a look at the floor and the opposite end.

A few more views of the Osier Stock Pens.

This is a view of the Bigger pen.

And a detail shot of one of the gate's.

A look at the Inspirator on 488's Engineer's side injector. This is where the steam and water is mixed before being is forced into the boiler.

A look at the Crosshead of 488 on the firemans side, you can see the wedge that keeps the Piston rod in place.

And a shot of the water level warning plate on the Water Column of 488.

I thought this is one of those scene's that are rare, so I took some shots to share with you all.

This is one of the MOW Motor Cars and the Fire Patrol.

I took these shots during the lunch stop.

I loved the blue skies and water tank behind the motor cars.

I am sorry about putting so many of these on the Update, but I was just very happy with the way these came out.

Now inside "Garcia's" of Albuquerque is the most Beautiful Restroom door I have ever seen!

Well how about a few photo's from Alamosa, Colorado.

These Locomotive's are now in use on the San Luis and Rio Grande here in the San Luis Valley of Southern Colorado.

The Locomotive's run over the Antonito Branch south of Alamosa and west on the Monte Vista Branch from Alamosa, then every evening they are tied together and head over La Veta Pass east to Walsenburg, Colorado and return.

In some photo's, you can still see the original lettering on the Locomotive's, they were used on the Rocky Mountaineer.

The Locomotive's usually work in pairs over the Valley Branches.

As you can see, one of the Locomotive's has been equipped with a remote unit operation and on occasion is operated by a single man in the Antonito.

You can see the necessary hardware on the front end.

I will contact the crews and get more info, but I understand they are leased locomotive's stationed in Alamosa, Colorado for use on the San Luis and Rio Grande Railroad.

Welcome to the Rio Grande Depot in Creede, Colorado!

I thought I would share a few of my picture's with you all.

This Bridge is West of Wagon Wheel Gap Depot and is a beautiful structure.

It crosses the Rio Grande here, about a half mile west of Wagon Wheel Gap.

It is the basic Construction, but feature's covers to protect the Supports during high water. You can see the log jam there in the foreground of the picture.

I have always loved details like these shots.

I think it is cool to see the grain in the wood and every spike, gives the picture character!

And now the tracks in the Picture continue east to Wagon Wheel Gap Depot.

Garcia's of Albuquerque, New Mexico... The food and service in this Restaurant is Superb, I have eaten here quite a few times and I love it... If you are in Albuquerque, stop in for the food and service, the place is always jam packed because the food is Amazing... I love this place and will be back soon!!!!!

See I tell you, this Painting is Simply Beautiful... I could have stayed in the place looking at the restroom door all day!

Once again thanks to Garcia's for the Hospitality and Amazing Food and thanks to Iva and Nicole, two of a whole bunch of fun and friendly employee's at this Great Restaurant. But, don't take my word for it, stop in and see for yourself!!!!

Well I hope you liked this weeks update, we will have a group of Motor cars visit us soon on the C&T and I will be sure to get shots of all those when they arrive.

Have a great weekend and i'll see you later... Carlos
