Milepost 282, West of Antonito on the Cumbres &
Toltec. |
Here is my Friends Mr. Andersons
collection... and once again, there is Jess.. the Apple of my eye...
Another Shot of Engineer Jeff
Stebbins Daughter Stephanie... best of luck to her in another year
of school. |
Welcome to Alamosa, Colorado...
Once a bustling yard of the Rio Grande with Standard and Narrow
gauge steam.... |
Well thanks to continued traffic,
the standard gauge rails are still shining!!! |
The Rio Grande Depot still stands
and houses the Alamosa County Social Service's.
And thanks to the preservation
of the history of our country, the building continues to shine and
stand guard as freight trains and railroaders roll by. The rainbow
really does end in a Pot of Gold, the building really is a treasure
in value to our country's railroad History. |
A few views of the Osier Tank... |
Its quite a structure, its tall one. |
I love the look, it could easily be 50 years ago. |
She's a Beauty, what a tank. |
A few shots of 488 at Osier... |
Sometimes I am walking around the Locomotive's
doing my inspection and I stop and realize how lucky I am to see the
things I see..... |
Thought I would share a few of my views with
you.... |
I was riding with Jeff as Fireman, how about a few
picture's of Sublette from my point of view.. |
Out the front door... |
And on the ground ahead of the Locomotive while
Jeff was getting me a Dr Pepper and a Black cup of coffee for
himself. |
Train 1 leaves Antonito with Jeremy and Marvin
Valdez on the front end. |
It was a smaller train, but what a Beautiful day. |
And they are on their way to Osier, Colorado. |
This place is Beautiful when the Sunflowers come
up.... |
And their goes the Fire Patrol.... |
The train is just at about Milepost 282.75 and
will soon turn to the Right and began its 50 mile climb to Cumbres. |
A little bit of those Artistic shots.... |
Sunflowers and the Road Crossing post. |
Maybe we could add the "Sunflower Route" slogan to
our name... |
Don't you just love the skies, wow... |
And we will finish this with the tracks heading
West.... |
Well we had some Track Equipment
riding the Standard Gauge in Antonito. |
The Ballast Regulator worked the
line for a few days... |
And the Tamper parked by the
Original Antonito Depot, did some maintenance on the Old Rio Grande
Mainline. |
Now let me tell you I am
impressed... |
This is the Standard Gauge in
Antonito right in front of my house. |
It looks like a million Dollars,
Great Work. |
Well we had a Visit from NARCOA, and their
Beautifully restored Motor Cars. |
This is a standard gauge motor car and is just
Beautiful.... |
Off the subject, but check out my fire... nice and
flat!!! I can still fire even though I ride the Engineer's seat. |
I love this Custom built.... |
A fully enclosed Motor Car.. |
And this one is fully open to the elements. |
And here my Friends Paul and Dean's Motor Car
2038. |
They came to ride both the C&T and the D&S and
Guess what??? |
That's right, I got to ride the extra seat with
Dean & Paul on the Durango & Silverton and yes, I got picture's. |
Love those Strips.... |
And here is Philip & Linda Walters 1985 Fairmont
MT-14l3 named Sunny. |
Sunny and 2038 share track three in the Antonito
Shop. I will have more of the Motor
cars in the next update. |
The Coal Tipple stands in Chama against a Blue
Sky. |
And the 489 is down near the sheep dip track to be
sand blasted. |
I will keep you informed on the work.. |
Another view of the coal tipple. |
The Locomotive has had all plumbing and such
removed. |
It is ready to be sand blasted. |
Looking at 489's firebox. |
I am curious as to how much of the firebox will be
replaced. |
In Antonito, I did most of the interior sand
blasting of 487 and it was very difficult and claustrophobic. |
This is a difficult process and must be hard for
one guy to do alone.. |
The front flue sheet of 489, you can see the
Superheater Header and Steam delivery pipe's. |
The Tamper is Back and I am not sure where it will
go now, keep you informed. |
Yes, I was at Railfest in
Durango... took a few picture's for you all.
Locomotive 472 pulls up to stand next
to 486 on her departure. |
There goes 486 passing 472 as it
goes... |
472 and the Presidential Train
rolls thru Rockwood.
There will be more later. |
Now here are some great people I
met and talked trains with, its Casey and Cody Akin and Rachel
Pryor. They actually chased my train Thursday evening, then we
bumped into each other in Durango... had a great time talking with
you Guys and Young Lady, will see you again next year... |
Two railroad buildings continue to
attract rainbows in Alamosa, Colorado. |
Well have a great one and I will have a few more
shots from Railfest... a few more as in about 300 more.... See Ya
next week, Carlos Llamas |
