Hello Everybody, welcome to another update, I hope to get back to chama soon and will get more photos of 487 and 488... Next Weekend is the Balloon Rally in Chama and I will be there all weekend!!!

Well February the 11th I passed thru Santa Fe again and I can't resist stopping in a taking a few shots... How about that Reflection.

I love that Vintage Passenger Coach...

A few shots of 93....

She's a good looking Locomotive.

Friday was a day off for the Santa Fe Southern.

93 was taking a break.

And you know I love Caboose's...

I can't help but take picture's.

This Caboose is Equipped with a Air Horn on the Cupola, the SFS runs tail first alot and the Brakemen are able to blow road crossing warnings from the Caboose.

She's a Beauty...

I would actually like to have a model of this Caboose...

In the Background is Locomotive 92...

A view of the Santa Fe Depot.

93 sits in the Northern New Mexico rain...

Look at the Puddle of water, photographing reflections is a new thing for me, but I love this shot.

Now a look at 489, this is inside the firebox and facing towards the rear.

Saturday February 19th 2005...

Well its about 10:00 A.M. and its snowing in Antonito, it didn't last but it added some much appreciated moisture to my backyard..

See the Milepost there, back about 10 years ago when they replaced that Milepost, whoever replaced it, threw the old one into the weeds, after a while i picked it up and restored it, now it sits in my backyard enjoying a few more years of life.

In the top Picture you are looking directly East from my Backyard and in the distance you can see Cano's Castle, a Antonito Landmark..

Check out all the birds waiting for Breakfast at my bird feeder...

Tuesday February 22nd 2005...

Early Morning Antonito.. SnackCar 502 is still in the shop, it has both of its trucks rebuilt and its A-side Draft gear. We are installing a Hand Rail in the Snack Car, it will provide a hand hold for Passengers while making their selections in the Snack Car.

Work has begun on 484's Valve's, we are Honing the interior surface's to remove minor Scratches. When we are done, we will make measurements for the new Valve's.

Wednesday February 23rd 2005...

Good Morning, its Snowing lightly... Today we continued work on the SnackCar 502, it will have handrails to aid the Passengers as they walk thru allowing them to hold on to something.

This Afternoon, the Sleet continued.. we also continued work on 484, we have Honed the Left side Valve's and started work on the right side.. Man, it took all day...

The Strip under the Firedoor tends to be a trouble spot and has been replaced on the other three locomotives.

This is the Left side and the removed section.

This is the right side of the removed section in the firebox.

You are looking at the Left rear corner of the Firebox.

A close-up of the removed section, you can see the cut staybolts on the bottom and the staybolts that are still in the outside sheet.

A look at the Flue Sheet on the 489.

An exterior view of the rear of 489,

These are the staybolts that are being removed. The Pattern outside matches the removed sheet inside.

A look at 489's mapped boiler, this is part of the Ultrasound test, the entire boiler is separated into 1 foot square's and then 5 little spots are polished to expose bare metal and then the sounding is done on those spots.

A view of 489's rear end or Backhead.

The throttle on 489 has been removed and here it is.

489's Smokebox door wide open.

A view of 489's left side blowdown valve fully exposed.

Well we sent the Tamper out for repairs...

With Ronnie at the controls, the Tamper inches forward to the Trailer.

Slowly Ronnie inches forward.

Marvin guides Ronnie off Track one and unto the trailer.

First set of wheels on the trailer...

And the second wheel set rides onto the trailer.

Slowly inching forward.

The tamper is in place on the trailer.

Russom Trucking of Chama handled the move, its nice to deal with Mr Russom, he has became knowledgeable with railroad affairs is experienced in handling these types of moves.

Mr Russom actually built a special set of rails that can be bolted onto the trailer in minutes to move our equipment.

The Tamper is ready to roll..

To be helpful friends, we helped rebuild a mud flap that broke during the loading.

And here is Mr Russom and his Son John Russom. Thanks Guys.

And the Tamper is on her way to Oklahoma, the town of Muskogee to be precise... and on the way home John picked up the Switches for the Antonito Repair Facility on the way back... those pictures will be on the 4th week update.

With John at the Controls, the Tamper heads south out of Antonito.

Look at these, I took these at Cumbres quite a few years back....

How about that Car....

487 and some Old Cars..

There is line of those beautiful Cars next to 487.

Now that is a view of the Past...

Just like the old days..

Old American Restored and fully Operational works of Art, don't you agree.

I just love this shot.

Well that's it for this week, the last shot I took of the SFS was this reflection shot... I'll see you next week.

Thanks for all your support, Carlos
