Tres Piedras and a historic tank still waits for a Ghost locomotive to take water..

Welcome to the Antonito office and Cathy... hi Cathy.

And here is Lisa, Lisa is from El Rito, New Mexico but is a new transplant to Antonito and was quickly welcomed into the A-Team....

Now I am in Lake City, Colorado... it is a Beautiful town northwest of Creede, Colorado on highway 149. I stopped in to the information center and picked up some info, Rachel Shull was extremely nice and I was honored to have her hold the Magazine up for a Photo. Thanks Rachel for the info and your friendliness.

Monday the 1st of August, Locomotive 488 is at Osier on Train 4.

It was a Great day, we had a good run and 488 performed very well.

488 at Osier, Colorado.

Fire Patrol is ready to chase Train 4 to Antonito.

A close up look at 488's Main Rod, Eccentric Crank and Eccentric Rod.

A look at 488's Expansion Link and the Rod that drives the Mechanical Lubricator.

A look at the Connection between the Tender and Locomotive...

488's Tender.

And 488's Cab numbers.

Some Interior views of 488's Cab.. There is a Oil Can with a heavy weight oil used in the Hydrostatic Lubricator.

A view of the Super Size Hydrostatic Lubricator... its a bunch of knobs and brass.....

A look at the Primary Water glass and Water Column.

And the Throttle itself, you can see the wear from years of gloved hands handling the Throttle.

Early Morning Antonito, how about a few views of the Tank and Track Crews Shed.

I thought these views were pretty good, I see them everyday, but figured I would take a few for you out there in Internet Land.

This really is a beautiful Tank.

I love how it stands above everything in the Yard and against that Beautiful Blue Colorado Sky.

Now a Silhouette of the Tank. Can you see 484 in the Picture.

Now back to the Crews who make the Cumbres & Toltec run, here is Road Foreman Max Pacheco and Joseph Sisneros, if you remember, Joe helped in the rebuild of 487's Boiler and actually rolled all the Flues in 487's front end.

There is Veteran Cumbres & Toltec Motor Car 104.

There is a Veteran of the Cumbres & Toltec.. Diesel 19 and a newcomer, the Ballast Regulator.

Now a few views of the Restored Stock Pens in Osier.

I love the work that was done here...

The wood work is Beautiful... that structure looks right at home against those green mountains and blue skies.
Wednesday and Ronnie and I are climbing the East side of Cumbres.. Ronnie's got the throttle and I have the Shovel...
I tried to capture the glow of the fire for you...

C&T Friend Laura Kammerer...

Volunteer crews work at Cumbres, they found the base for the Original Water Tank.

It was raining hard at Cumbres and even a little hail fell, but that didn't stop the crew from working... Thanks to these wonderful people for all the hard work they do to preserve the structure's and so much more along the line.

The work the volunteers do, allow us, the trains crews to concentrate 100% on running safe trains for our passengers...

Well we had some major rain on Thursday, Ronnie and I on 487 chased the storm from Mud Tunnel to Antonito and what a rain it was, just what we needed.

I love these big rains, it is so amazing to see water flowing under all the normally dry trestles from Antonito to Big Horn.

Well as always the rain drains to the Southeast corner of the parking lot, well we have a little bit of a drainage problem on the new track....

Hopefully the Ballast will take care of the problem and the water does soak in fast..

I am sure the guys can fix the problem.

It may not even be a problem, but I wanted to show you how much moisture we got over the last week.

And i am glad to say, we received rain in the driest parts of the railroad.

A little bit of water is always a Great thing here in Antonito.

Another view of the Tank...

It sits so alone in the fields of Northern, New Mexico. Does anybody have a picture of a Locomotive at this Tank, just curious... I have never seen one.

Now back to Lake City, Colorado... ain't that a beauty, it was being lettered and is looking Beautiful.

It is in the grounds of a Museum right off main street.... I was extremely lucky to bump into a very talented Musician in Lake City, his name is Robby Rothschild and we will visit with him next week.

Welcome to Santa Fe..

And the Home of the Santa Fe Southern.

Central Railroad of New Jersey Car 1158.

I must say, that is a beautiful Depot..

Ain't she a beauty, kinda out of place in New Mexico, but she has earned her place on these Santa Fe Southern Rails..

She will lead the Train today behind a boxcar to Lamy, New Mexico.

And the skies, check out those New Mexico Skies.

A beautiful Structure of North American Railroad and the Santa Fe Southern and her crews keep her from fading into the history books..

The first class car dome car on the Santa Fe Southern.

Two Rio Grande Caboose's sit in the New Mexico Sun.

Santa Fe Car 502.

It has been said Elizabeth Taylor rode this car on one of her Honeymoons, quite a history.

Discarded wheels and the Dome Car.

Santa Fe Southern number 93 brings a freight car up to the train..

They will run a Mixed freight/passenger train to Lamy today.

I have always loved the Santa Fe Southern, from the first day I walked upon its grounds.

Slowly inching up to the train.

This really is a magical place and the crews are outstanding, if your near Santa Fe, stop in to see the SFS, its a great Railroad.

That boxcar kinda looms over the Locomotive doesn't it.

The train is hooked up and the Engineer begins to charge the train.

Good Ole' Number 93.

July 31st, 2005.

Welcome to Owl Cafe in Albuquerque, New Mexico.....

You can see that Owl from quite a ways off.

The Owl cafe is on Eubank, just north of I-40.

Two Employee's of this Famous Restaurant.

Love that Menu, I had a Green Chili Burger, the special of the House, it was Good!!!!!!

A view of the Counter...

A looking toward the Kitchen...

Looking West inside the Cafe.....

Paying the bill... oh, and I got a hat too!

Saying Goodbye to the Owl Cafe, but I will be back.. I have to have another of those Great Burgers. The Owl Cafe is one of the most Famous Cafe's in Albuquerque, its a Must see and "Twinky Approved"!

Sculpture's in Santa Fe...

I love her Face....

Another street in Santa Fe.

A cool little corner in the capital of New Mexico.

Another beautiful mural down a street in Santa Fe.

See that sign, I got a great Rootbeer float in there...

Welcome to the Rio Grande Depot in La Jara, Colorado..

Mid way between Antonito and Alamosa... it is now the City Hall for La Jara.

Its a Beautiful structure and thought I would like to share it with you... there is also a Narrow Gauge Flanger parked in the grass next to the Building...

Wednesday we pulled in to Cumbres on Train 215 Westbound to Chama, and there is this Young Lady working, it was wet and a little cold and the ground was muddy and yucky and well I was Completely Impressed!!!!   I think she could handle a fireman's shovel.

Well, I am always thinking of ways to improve the website and figured it was time to start recognizing a few people for the work they do for the Railroad. So I would like to present the "First Ever, Cumbres & Toltec Shops Website Most Valuable Person Award" She will be given a Crew Autographed Hat and a Hooded Sweatshirt displaying her award... and she will be made a "Honorary C&T Steam Locomotive Crew Member".

She is the new Generation of people dedicated and willing to work hard to preserve our Country's Railroad History and I would like to thank her very much from the entire Railroad!!!
