Well this last weekend was the Fathers Day Car show in Alamosa's Cole Park and our Favorite friend of the Railroad was there.... Ernestine Romero.

I will share a few more Photo's of Ernestine later.

Here is our Buddy Mike, getting some sun in Chama.. Mike is one of the Onboard Docents... And a heck of a great guy.

Now a few shots of the 2005 Moonlight Train, I wasn't scheduled for the Train, so thanks to Soni, I have a few to share with you...

Locomotive 488 in Osier.

The Cab of 488 in the dark.

The Train has arrived and Soni got a few shots of the Chama yard in the Moonlight.

Can you see the cars under the light of a Locomotive Headlight, I loved these shots and want to thank Soni for helping with the website this week.

Here is the Galloping Goose in the Osier Spur as Soni and the Train pass by.

And another view of the Goose at the Wye in Cumbres on its last run for this year on the C&T.

Galloping Goose 5 begins its run up the narrows for Cumbres, thanks Soni for these great shots... I hope to visit Soni and his Scorpion soon.

Now as I am always in the Village Bean in Chama to get Frappucino's, I was lucky to meet another of the wonderful new employee's.

Here is Shira More...

Back in Antonito and the Crew working on Caboose 0579 is making fantastic progress...

today the crew will apply the lettering to Caboose 0579.

Blue Skies and Blue lenses....

The crew discusses the next move.

Caboose will soon receive its lettering, right now its soaking up the warm summer sun.

Another view of 0579.

History doesn't exist here, as long as we keep the old stuff as fresh as the present.

Caboose 0579 is ready to ride the rails again....

The End of 0579 and its new beginning thanks to the Volunteer crews in Antonito, Colorado.

A old Caboose is reborn......

3 veterans of American railroading share the spotlight together in Antonito.

Conductor Sam Ruybal prepares to pilot the Goose to Chama.

One of my Friends asked me if the Locomotives that run on the San Luis & Rio Grande came from the Rocky Mountaineer, well look closely, my Friend was right, you can see very faintly the Rocky Mountaineer Logo under the blue strip on the side of 804.

A narrow gauge Veteran 487 sits on the Ash pit, Rio Grande Southern Galloping Goose 5 sits on the Main and San Luis & Rio Grande 804 sits on the old 3 rail mainline in front of the Antonito depot.

Check this shot, ain't that a collection of Railroading Equipment!!!

San Luis & Rio Grande 804 prepares for Departure and in front is Wendy, say Hi to Wendy.

Looking at 804 thru the Goose windshield.

San Luis & Rio Grande Employee's Conductor Marc Widener and Engineer Matt Cutter.

The Goose prepares to leave Antonito.

804 in charge of the Private Railcar train pulls up the wye from the C&T Antonito Depot to the Original Antonito Depot.

Coming close to the mainline and the original track from Santa Fe.

Looking back you can see the Private railcars rolling along.

Now the Train is backing down the main south from the Antonito Depot.

The Train backed all the way past the San Antonio River Bridge to get the riders as much mileage as possible.

Locomotives 804 and 805 pose the Train at the San Antonio river Bridge.

I thought this was a cool shot.

All the way down to the river....

Locomotives 804 and 805 began to come across the bridge.

Over the Bridge, I loved this shot..

Passengers once again climb aboard the train.

Passing thru Antonito headed for Alamosa.

Up ahead is the Conejos River Bridge.

Coming across Highway 114, and into La Jara.

Passing thru La Jara and next to a crowd preparing for a Parade. It was Glory Days in La Jara.

The Galloping Goose poses in front of the Chama Depot, these are thanks to my Friend Bill Noe from my other Home Gallup, New Mexico..

Galloping Goose number 5 climbs the grade below Coxo, nearing the highway crossing.

Another view of the Goose next to the Chama Depot.

A view into the interior of Goose number 5.

The Goose 5 turns on the Cumbres Wye... Thanks again to Bill Noe.

Coming into Alamosa, Colorado.

Conductor Marc Widener is out on the Steps for the last few rails into Alamosa.

The train comes up to State Street and the Alamosa Depot.

The Train was to continue to Monte Vista and so had to move the Locomotives from the East end of the train to the West end of the train to continue Westbound to Monte Vista.

The Locomotives are moving to the opposite end of the Train.

The Cars are on the main and I am standing next to the rest of the Locomotives stationed in Alamosa.

The Private Railcar Train leaves Alamosa for Monte Vista.

Locomotive 804 in front of the Alamosa Depot.

Locomotive 805 and 804 cross State Street.

Now Locomotive Number 19 is undergoing repairs in the Antonito Shop, Last year we had to leave Diesel 19 in Chama, well here's the truth. I had planned to bring Diesel 19 back to Antonito for the winter, but never made it... well.

What happened is, we had attempted to make the run back, we were encountering a little snow on the track, but nothing Diesel 19 couldn't handle, The Snow didn't keep Locomotive 19 in Chama, a blown electrical motor did.

About a 1/4 mile above Cresco Tank, I saw a flash of blue light come out of one of the traction motors and so returned to chama on two motors,

What had happened was, I blew a Traction motor as I had suspected, so now diesel 19 is getting new motors, only one was blown, but Marvin decided to replace both of the motors on the lead truck since the Locomotive was in the shop. So in fact, I am sure we would have made it, if I had not blown a Motor.

This is the Underside of Diesel 19 where the truck would be, you can see the Centerplate and the rear truck still on the rails.

You are now looking at the removed front truck of 19, there is one axle with the Traction motor to the left and the Centerplate, where the locomotive sits.

A look at the Motor of diesel 19 and those straight square rods, left and right are part of the brake rigging.

Another view of the trucks.

A view of the removed truck, this whole section is one piece and has been removed from under the locomotive.

This is the inside section of the truck and the whole in the center is where the two trucks connect to one another.

A few shots from the regular trains.

Here is Galloping Goose number 5 in the Wye at Cumbres, you are in the Locomotive Cab looking over the coal back to the wye.

Another view of the Goose from the Ground.

Now let me show a few views of the Motor cars.

The Fire Patrol had to transfer a Motor Car from Cumbres to Antonito, so Bobby double headed the Fire Patrol Motor cars.

The track crew helped Bobby tie the Motor Cars together at cumbres as we were passing on the bottom loop of Tanglefoot Curve.

And here is Bobby "Doubleheading" the Motor Cars down Whiplash Curve on the middle section as we travel on the bottom section.

Its tuesday and we have just made the Summit with a Helper, I am firing for Jeff Stebbins and we are going to cut off the Helper with Marvin and Jose aboard.

There goes the Helper across Highway 17.

And as we are doing our Brake test, 487 turns on the wye and comes up next to us.

I always like to watch helper turn around...

The Passengers really enjoy watching the Locomotive pull up next to them.

There are the Guys in the Cab, after we leave they will head down the Mountain.

Here we are in Albuquerque, at Rainbow field. We were lucky to have some wonderful people visit us and they had the opportunity to fly aboard "Viento Encantado". The Group consisted of the VR-21 Fleet Tactical Support of the U.S. Pacific Fleet.

Here the Basket is being assembled for todays flight's.

The Basket has been attached to the Envelope and the envelope is being Cold Inflated.

We were lucky, it turned out to be a small rally, as quite a few balloons showed up to fly.

One of the first balloons to take to the air.

Viento Encantado takes to the air with some of the first passengers..

I loved this shot, i was lucky to get this many balloons stacked in one picture.

The winds at different altitudes take over and the Balloons fly away from each other.

Next week, I will have more photos of the Balloons flying

Now let me introduce you to Tasha, she is the Young Lady responsible for all the 487 Photographs, she processed them and transferred them to Cd, She did all the Great Processing work on the 487 project, Thanks to her for all that work, she is such a wonderful person and I wish her the best... thanks Tasha.
