Locomotive 487 and Train 3 pass Galloping Goose #5 at Los Pinos, this is a Great shot by a Local Gentleman named Ken Holman, I will include a few more of his shots in coming Updates. He has sent some really great shots... Thank you very much.

Recently restored after 38 years is Porter #2313, this is a interior photo of the Porter #2313. Man, look at the work in the Cab, Absolutely Beautiful.

I will have more photos of Porter #2313 during her test runs and first scheduled run thanks to my friend Jussi Tepponen, Chief of Operations, Jokionen Museum Railway in Finland.

A few more shots of Cumbres & Toltec Locomotive 488 in the Snow.....

Shots like these are rare even for me, it is a new world to run our trains in the snow, especially with fall colors still in place.

488 at Cumbres, there was snow fall here, but by the afternoon.. most of it had melted off.

Another of what I call a classic pose of railroading.

Monday Oct 17th and we are moving equipment over the line for the Winter... Passenger cars are always shipped to Antonito where Passenger car maintenance is done by the Antonito Shop Crew.

We are in Osier waiting for a train from Chama.

Tender 484 and a single flat we picked out of the Spur in Osier...

484 and the Blue Skies of Osier, now why would I take a picture like this.. Artistic side of my Photography or.....

I just want you to see what I see, to share my views with you and that's why I love this website, I can share what my eyes see with you.

The end of a Flatcar.... not much, but still pretty cool.

484 and a Flatcar on the Main, 487 rolls into the siding with its headlight on Dim.

I was on 484 and left my Headlight on Dim, signaling to 487 that the way was clear.. he in return enters the siding also on dim.

487 rolls into Osier, Colorado with a train bound for Antonito.

487 passes 484.

At the end of 487's train is Cook Car 053 bound for Antonito and the Car Repair Facility.

I was surprised to see this car come around the bend at Osier, I didn't know it was coming over to Antonito until this day.

Cook Car 053 and the Nose of 484, another one of those pictures to capture for you, what my eyes see.

Welcome to the Chama Shop 2005-2006. In this picture you are looking at the Pilot trucks of two of our steam locomotives. The Steam Locomotives are undergoing what we would call tune ups... The Pilot Trucks have been pulled out to check for wear and such. Steve Montano and his crew will be checking wear and such and will be making necessary repairs or adjustments...

A close up of a Pilot truck, you can see the axle and those blocks I am pointing at with the white arrow support the Bissell Post. I hope I spelled that right.

The Guys in the shop have been carefully checking to make sure these trucks are running correctly and all this information will help with future rebuilds.

The Drivers of 484 and 487 have been pulled out and they will be inspected and repaired... some of the crown brass boxes have wear and all this will be repaired or adjusted. The guys will also be checking lateral motions and such.

Two Bissell posts awaiting cleaning and inspection.

You are looking at two "Grease Cellars". These devices apply grease to the driver journals, you can see the boxes are curved to fit the journal. You start with the box, then a Spring to apply upward force, then a plate with grease and a screen with holes... The boxes have two holes and two long pins that keep them locked in place on the bottom side of the Crown brass box.

The Drivers of 487 were being cleaned, the guys are moving the axle out of the shop.

Here is 487, the Driver axles are all out and the guys are working on dropping the Trailing truck. The Trailing truck of 487 will receive a new wheel set and if I am correct, just one driver on the 487 will get a new axle... I will have pictures soon and more than likely in future updates, Steve and his guys are working on a new machine and will be able to quarter the Crank pins on a driver axle and will be able to press the counterweights and wheels off the axle and replace them onto a new axle in the Chama Shop.

Locomotive 488 in the shop...

Orlando and Ducky are working on removing the trailing truck of 487, Tommy is also helping but out of the shot.

A view of 487 with her driver axles removed.

Another shot of the guys working on 487's trailing truck.

A close up of 487 without its driver wheels, you can see all the spring rigging and the Lollipop bolts that adjust the wedge's... Can you see the lollipop bolts??

A look at the Expansion link of 487, you can see the empty spaces where the drivers wheels used to be.

487's front end minus the Pilot truck and supported by the yellow Shop trucks.

A look at 488's and 487's front ends.

A look into 488's cab and I sure those are 484's driver axles.

All three locomotives in the Chama Shop.

And a look at 484 without its driver wheels.

You can clearly see that a lot of work has been accomplished in a short time, driver wheels out of 484 and 487, Pilot trucks out of all three locomotives and the guys are dropping the trailing truck on 487.

Wednesday and we are heading to Cumbres on Diesel 19... Diesel 19 was sent out of Antonito for run to Cumbres Pass, Colorado to pick up passenger cars brought up from Chama for winter servicing in Antonito.

Passing thru Phantom Curve, its a little wet.

Passing thru the cuts near "The Rock". We are heading to Cumbres to pick up the last of the passenger coaches for Maintenance in Antonito over the Winter.

Just before Calico Cut..

These picture's are taken looking right out the front window from my Seat in the Cab of Diesel 19 and we are over Cascade Trestle.

There is the shadow of Diesel 19 from Diesel 19 on the trestle.

A short climb and we will turn to the left, small descent and over....

And over Los Pinos Trestle we go.

Diesel 19 arrives at Cumbres, this was the Morning.. about 11:30.

A snow system would roll thru and clear and another would come thru and it would get dark.

Lots of fast moving weather.

Diesel 19 holding the main at Cumbres, we had to wait a Hour and a Half here for Locomotive 488 to arrive from Chama with our train.

It actually wasn't that cold, once the Diesel 19 runs a little, the electronics warm up the Cab.

A look at the Car Inspectors Home.

A view of the Cumbres Depot from the Car Inspectors Home.

And, the Car Inspectors Home.

I just love this Picture, this is Therese in the cab of 488. Thanks to Therese's father for this great shot.

Welcome to the New Conejos County Jail....

A look at the secure doors that allow the Police cars to enter the detention facility before actually removing the Detainee in the back of the car.

Father of the Sheriff Joe Taylor, SR, Conejos County Sheriff Joe Taylor, JR and La Jara, Colorado Chief of Police Robert Pena.

Here is another shot of my Mom and a young Detention Officer named Maria, Maria may look familiar, Maria actually worked at the Osier Lunch Building, serving lunch to the Cumbres & Toltec Passengers. She has since decided to make a move into and began a Career as a Police Officer. I am so proud of her, she has a amazing personality and I wish her the very best in this new field of work.

My Father,  former Conejos Commissioner Pete Llamas, My brother Francisco Llamas, and my Mother Consuelo Llamas. I will have to look for the picture to share with you all, but my Dad served as Chief of Police for the Town of Antonito back in his younger days...

You are Looking at my Classmate Lillian, she works with the County Treasure's office and now holds the title of Deputy Treasurer... what a Gal. And she is my Neighbor!!

A look at the new Police Vehicles the Sheriff has been able to acquire for his Officers.

Back to Durango, Colorado.

Two Steam Locomotive's and One Diesel..

Like I mentioned earlier, I was pleased to be invited to ride along with the RodRunners of Las Cruces, New Mexico.... Check this car out...

Another beauty that participated in the Ride along.

This is my Favorite, its a little fuzzy, had to take this without a tripod and I am not that steady.

Welcome to "Southwest Vintage Trucks" a custom restoration shop in Las Cruces, New Mexico.. I am very grateful to Owner Bill Moore for his Hospitality and for allowing me to photograph his shop.

Don't know who these Guys are, but they are cool.

Another look at this amazing shop, I was completely impressed.

A mustang looking fantastic. Just look at that Paintjob.

One of the Custom cars being restored.

What a Nose!!!

And let me introduce you to Ray Martinez, one of the Technicians at the shop.

The Mustangs Back end.

And another look at the Shop, what a great place... I wouldn't want to go home from work.

Thanks again to the RodRunners of Las Cruces for letting me ride along and thanks to Bill Moore for the Hospitality and for the Amazing BBQ at his shop.

Wednesday the 26th of October, 2005. I am taking the Shops Website Camera for a ride along the new track for the first time.

Joseph Cisneros is running the Motorcar and I am shooting picture's thru the front window.

Well that didn't take long, but I rode the new track for the first time.

At the last switch before the Shop.

The Guys are going at it pretty hard..

Now I am in the shop to show you a different perspective.

The tie's are in place as are the Tie Plates.

Looking outward from the door, the track is getting close. These shots were taken as of Wednesday Oct, 26th 2005.

Here are the Two Most Important Young Ladies in my life, Samantha and Jessica... I love those Noses, they are at the Barnum & Baileys Circus...

Have a great one and we'll see you next week.
