|
A Evening photo of Chama from our
friend John Kelly.... Thanks John |
|
Rio Grande 2038, what a Motorcar.. |
|
488 sits in the snow outside of the shop Monday
morning as the snow falls, we had a total of about 5 inches in
Antonito and the most snow was at Big Horn with close to a foot. |
|
Another couple of views of 488, we have just
passed Calico Cut. |
|
It is very rare, although I see this area
everyday, to actually get off and walk around a Stopped Locomotive
at this location. |
|
488 poses just west of Toltec Creek. |
|
A look at 488's front end... |
|
Here I am with U.S. Congressman John Salazar, (D)
Colorado. I was able to give him my card and the Website address and
a Hat.. see on my day off and I am working for the railroad talking
to a US Congressman... don't you think I deserve a raise.. |
|
Its September 30th
and the 484 is being watered for a Friday run to Chama. |
|
Marvin Valdez is putting water into 484's tender
at the Antonito Water Tank. |
|
Another Beautiful, be it a little cold, day in
Antonito. The 484 today would be pulling a special train to Chama
with Invited Legislatures aboard. |
|
While Ronnie coaled up 484, I took a few shots of
stuff in the yard... how about this Hopper originally from the EBT.
I don't think we can return it even when it is empty. |
|
A look at Caboose 0579, okay I wanna take this
thing for a test run already!!!!! But, When??? Bill Kepner and
I are just a LITTLE anxious!!!! |
|
484 and Ronnie back to the Train. The Train will
actually depart eastbound, roll around the loop and head out of
Antonito westbound to Chama. |
|
Now you can see how cool it was, Steam rises from
484... |
|
With 484 on the train, Ronnie takes out the slack
and steam rolls from the cylinder cocks... |
|
Riding Motorcar 2038 back to
Silverton. |
|
Thought you might like to see these
shots, it was my first time. |
|
It is a really cool experience to
ride a railroad by Motorcar, its a closer experience if you know
what I mean. |
|
Just south of Silverton... |
|
Sorry for the Blur, the Digital has
its limits.... |
|
The group has begun to turn the
Motorcars on the Silverton Wye. |
|
Locomotive 482 and its crew turns the
Train on the Wye, they are backing into the leg in this shot. I must
apologize, I was unable to get the names of the crew onboard this
Locomotive. |
|
Paul & Dean's Motorcar, I am still
beyond thankful for being invited to ride with these Gentleman over
the D&S. |
|
Initially when I arrived at work Monday morning,
it seemed a little spooky outside.. |
|
Well spook aside, I got to work on getting 488
ready for the day. |
|
The Sun came up, but the snow kept falling. |
|
A look at 488 from the opposite side of the shop. |
|
Letting my eyes adjust, a new view of the shop
emerged. |
|
Okay I have cleaned the fire, blown out the ashes,
started the Hydro static lubricator, the Air Pump and pulled the
chain from under the Number 4 right-side driver. Its time to roll
488 out of the shop.... |
|
488 is at the coaling dock and I am on the backhoe
with a load of coal. |
|
Caboose 0306 sits in the snow, isn't it pretty. |
|
It was wild, I almost slide off the coal dock,
little bit of a exciting morning... If I would have slide off the
dock the backhoe would have rolled on its side and I would have
spilled my Vanilla Coke!!!!! |
|
488 in a heavy snow. Monday October 10th-2005. |

Quite a few years ago, I remember looking
back from the firemans seat of the Locomotive I was on to smile at a
wonderful young lady and after doing that turned forward again and
had a Pine Tree re-arrange my face with a Branch, that was the day I
met Jessica.. From that day I became friends with a family from
Denver and that was a great day in my life. I came to become
wonderful friends with a young lady named Jessica and her sister
Samantha, I also found new friends in their father Pat and their
mother Annemarie. This Beautiful Smile attached to Jessica gave me a
whole new family in the Andersons, from that day I have considered
myself lucky to be a part of their family.. I have seen these young
girls grow into wonderful intelligent young ladies and have hoped
that all I do on the railroad makes them proud of me as I dream of
nothing more than to make them all Happy.
Jessica has a smile so bright and
heartwarming, the sun can afterwards seem cold and dim in
comparison. Jessica you have given me a heaven sent
gift in you and your family, I am truly honored to be a part of your
life and your families life... Happy Birthday to
you. Thank you Jessica, for giving me your friendship and your
families Friendship, its your Birthday, but I feel I am the one who
truly received the greatest gift.. that gift being you and your
family!
Love Ya, Carlos.......... Happy
Birthday!! |
|
484's nose peeks at us from a pool of water in the

eyes open!!!
