There's my Brother in the middle with
the Mustache at the dedication of the New Conejos County Jail, He
has come back to Law Enforcement and has joined on again with
Conejos County, I would have to say, that law enforcement in a rural
setting can be some of the most difficult jobs I know and I am
extremely proud of my Brother, What a Guy and what a great father to
my Nephew and Niece. |

Early morning Antonito.. 484 is being prepared for
a run today, its a little cold as 484's steam rises into the Air. |
484 is backing to the coal dock. |
484 gets herself all steamed up! |
484 in a reflection.. |
With all the passengers aboard, 484 and its train
pull out of Antonito. |
Caboose 0306 brings up the rear, it has been
putting in alot of miles.. as it is the only Caboose in service..
484 ran the Legislature train without a hitch..
all the way to Chama. |
My tracks lead up the dock as I am coaling 488 for
her run. |
The snow would speed up and slow down, its was
actually extremely beautiful. |
I made a Boo-Boo, after I checked my picture's, I
realized I had left the headlight off.... |
484 has been coaled and the cab steam cleaned, I
am kinda picky, I don't like a speck of ash or dust in my cab after
dropping the fire in the morning. |
488 as the water tank... |
We decided to send Fire patrol ahead as a Rock
patrol, but it was facing the wrong direction... |
So with the backhoe we spun it around on the road
crossing. |
This is a EBT hopper, but think anything is out of
place, a old Rio Grande logo was just tested on the side of this hopper,
before applying the stencil to a freshly painted restored car. |
Welcome to White Sands in New
Mexico.... we have set up the Basket and our Pilot Clarke is doing a
Burner test with another Pilot. His wife and Crew Chief Ailene is
setting up the fan to cold inflate the envelope. |
We were extremely limited in how much
space would could fly in, so the flights were kinda short. |
Viento Encantado lifts into the air. |
This place is so amazing, the white
Gypsum sand is cool... it reminded me of snow. |
Balloons begin to inflate at White
Sands. |
Looking towards the sun, another view
of the balloons appears... |
We actually chased the balloons along
the roadway in White Sands. |
This place is spectacular even though
we were so limited in flight. |
The clouds and skies were beautiful
with the Balloons against them. |
I will show you a few more views of
White Sands and in future updates I will share the Alburquerque
Balloon Fiesta with you... |
Hey check this out, its a Southern
Pacific Bay Window Caboose in Silverton. |
You know I would have loved to ride
in a Bay Window caboose down a mainline at High speed, meeting a
train in a siding would be cool, probably feel like you were gonna
get hit hanging out of the side like that. |
There's Motor car 2038 and another
Beautiful Rio Grande Motor Car in Silverton. |
After turning on the wye a D&S train
rolls backward into Silverton. |
There's our Friend Mike May riding
the rear platform with another brakeman and his Conductor... way to
go Mike! |
Locomotive 481 rolls her train back
into Silverton, onboard is Engineer Joe Dailey and Fireman John
Hillie. |
Cook Car 053 at Osier, I will have more of 053 in
route along the railroad in future updates, keep your eyes open. |
Welcome to the new Conejos County
Jail and Detention Facility. I will talk more about new jail, as my
father was involved in the initial funding when he was a Conejos
County Commissioner and my Brother will be working there. |
Well the work continues on the new track in
Antonito to the new Car Repair Shop. |
Rudy, Joseph and Ray are working on Hand Tamping
the ballast into the new switch, Rudy told me this Switch came out
great and it did, it throws with one hand, Beautiful work. |
The Guys use a Electrically driven Hand Tamping
Machine to do this work. |
Rudy and Joe are working opposite of each other to
tamp a tie and Ray adds ballast as needed. |
Its a team effort and after so many years together
the Guys work like Clockwork. |
Now this shot gives you a idea of the location of
the new Track, the passenger car is on the original loop track
behind them. |
Looking back to the tank and the Two new switches. |
Orlando is in the distance on the Backhoe cutting
dirt to make the new grade for the tracks heading into the shop,
they are close....There will be more Pictures coming soon, I am
going to take more pictures today and talk with the crew. |
