Its Sunset time in Antonito...... |
Here I am at White Sands in New
Mexico... south of Trinity Site.... and you can see Viento Encantado
next to the chase truck... |
And the Good Old Glory Balloon..... |
Hey its my Buddy Steven Dickey..... |
September 21st, we had a 15 car train out of
Antonito today, if I am correct.. that was actually the biggest
train of the year... |
Now look what showed up in the Parking lot, who
can identify those Beautiful Cars.... Cobra's???? |
That's all of them in front of 484.... |
They were beautiful... every single one of them. |
Locomotive 484 is next to the water tank in
Osier.... |
The Train Wednesday was actually so long we pulled
down the siding all the way to the switch.... |
I thought you might like a few shots of 484 by the
tank.... |
I must admit the lighting was really bad, but I
thought you would still like to see this stuff.... so I took the
picture's for all of you out there in Internet land. |
484 thru the timbers of the Osier Tank. |
We were actually were blocking the main line switch Wednesday....
Oh and I don't have any picture's,
but I would like to mention that I am extremely proud of the Track
crew... Robert, Julian, Toby and Max broke down on the Motor car at
Milepost 316.50 and actually pushed the Motorcar and tool car by
hand and pure man power more than a Mile and a Half into Osier to
clear the mainline for Train 215... That is dedication to being safe
and doing a Great Job... |
Looking thru the Fireman's window of 484 to the
station at Osier... |
Locomotive 484 by the Osier tank, another day on
the Modern Day Narrow gauge and thanks to the Internet I can share
it with you... |
A few views of 489... |
It is in the Chama Shop, but no work is being at
the moment.... |
I will keep you as up to date as possible on any
new information. |
At least its out of the weather... |
I know they still have to map the boiler, so that
will take a little while. |
489 looks so small in that shop doesn't it... |
Well Contractors are still installing Radiant
Heating in the Antonito Shop, so we had to pull 463 out of her
hiding place... |
We keep 463 in the shop out of the elements, but
463 got the chance to get a few days of fresh air. |
Here is 488, 463 and Caboose 0306.... |
488 and 463 stand next to each other on Tracks One
and Two. |
But I had to make a run for it as some heavy rains
rolled into Antonito.. I thought you would like this shot... Diesel
19, Locomotive 463 and Locomotive 488 in Antonito. |
The Balloon Rally at White Sands was
so amazing, it looks like snow... keep your eyes open for more.. |
Monday and I am on 487 coming into Osier on the
siding.. 488 and a Photo Freight Train are on the main... |
Soni, Jeremy and 488 are on the Main. |
And from my Locomotive on the west end of the
osier yard, the freight train can be seen leaving Osier for
Antonito. |
The Freight train is turning the Caboose and rider
Boxcars... |
The sun looked great on 488 as it came around the
loop in Antonito. |
488 in the Setting sun of Antonito. |
Its D&RG Locomotive 315, I took a few
shots while I was there and will share them with you next week. |
A few views of the Durango and
Silverton. |
Motor Car 333 at Rockwood. |
There are my Buddies Motorcar.... I
rode that beauty from Silverton to Rockwood and back. |
Now to my Modelers Corner, How about
the details of the Stub Switch in Rockwood. |
See the Points of sorts... |
I hope this helps the Modelers,
I think these shots show enough
details for making replica's of this switch for your Model Railroad. |
There was a lone Motorcar on the leg
of the Wye in Rockwood. |
Its a Beauty of a Motorcar. |
A look at the D&S's Ballast
regulator. |
Welcome to the D&RGW Depot in Del
Norte, Colorado.... I will have more for you next week. |
Early Morning Antonito, Colorado..... I am getting
488 ready for the photo freight train we had on the Cumbres &
Toltec. |
I know, I know... I wish the Air Compressor
wouldn't have been right there!!! But, sometimes pieces of equipment
are in the wrong place at the wrong time. |
Nearly Sunrise... |
And the sun comes up again on the Cumbres & Toltec
and 488... |
I am truly a lucky guy to experience sights and
sounds like these. |
The finishing touch after getting a locomotive
ready in the morning, is a complete steam cleaning of the Cab.
488 will lead the freight train out of Antonito
today. |
Jeff will soon be done and we will head out to the
Tank for Water. |
And soon the night will be gone and another day
will start on the Narrow Gauge. |
We will also have a visit with a very
nice young lady named
Therese Tutwiler, maybe we may have a photographic contribution from
her also for the Website in the future, don't forget!!!! Hint,
Hint!!!! Keep your eyes open
for next week... |
A few more steps and 5000 will be
complete again.... |
That was alot of work.... |
It is amazing how much it takes to
move these machines now, in the past all you had to do was crack the
throttle and off they would go. |
I am just glad this machine survived
the cutting torch.... Thanks again to Steven for these great shots. |
And the sun sets on 5000... |
But that is not a ending but a new
beginning for this Locomotive.. |
Beautiful shots, thanks Steven. |
I love this one, thanks Steven, that
is a awesome shot.... |
I will also have more action from
Durango, I have alot of picture's, might as well share them all with
you... so keep your eyes open and check out the picture, that's "The
Josh" riding on the D&S Diesel Locomotive..... see you later, Carlos
