I had a long weekend, wanted to join this Guy at the Zoo for a afternoon nap.

And on cars here and there, the name goes on..... Rio Grande on a flat in Monte Vista.

From my growing collection of Car Graffiti, on a UP Boxcar in Monte Vista.

Another look at the interior of 488, she is all put back together and ready to steam up!!!!

Ducky makes a adjustment on the Steam Gauge...

The guys are working on adjustments, Jose is on the top and Ducky on the running boards.

Its good to see the 488 back in order...

488 will undergo some testing and she will be ready to roll.

A look at freshly re-poured Babbitt on a Crown Brass box....

Locomotive 488 under a white cloudy sky, begins to build steam in her boiler.

The good ole' Independent and the automatic brake stands.. that's a little different to the Number 26 and Dynamic brakes I got used to working on the SL&RG.

Coal in the tender of 488, God bless those dinosaurs and prehistoric plant material for this hell rock that keeps our steam locomotives rolling!!!

And to close this up, another look at the pedestal support work being done on 487.

I didn't know Lionel made full size boxcars???

Two cars in Monte Vista.. if I am correct these are owned the Organization that wants to run the Creede Branch.

Another of the Cars, I heard this may become the snack car for the SL&RG passenger trains over La Veta.

And next to the Car is Ole' FEC 148... I would love to see that under steam some day.

Just thought I would share these with you... two of our F-units turning on the Alamosa Wye..

This is looking East, in the back is a collection of railroad items..

Now past the switch and heading north..

By the Sanding tower and heading east, the locomotives will switch onto the Mainline.

Welcome to the Albuquerque Rio Grande Zoo and the Thunderbird Express.

Our Engineer today is Jack Beadersted.

Pulling away from Station, I tell you... I love every train ride I get and this was a fun one...

Its a small train, but I was still impressed with the train handling, very smooth.. the rest of the passengers on the train may not have taken notice, but I did and it was a smooth ride!!!!

This is the only work/repair facility the train crews have, but they keep the trains in Beautiful shape. You can see some spare chain and wheels next to the inspection pit.

The General, a 4-4-0 type locomotive.

Preparing to leave station for another run.

Coming across a road crossing in the Zoo.

I apologize, I did not get a picture of the second crew member on today's train.. Thanks also to Marvin Baggett.

And say goodbye to the Thunderbird Express at the Rio Grande Zoo.

Welcome to the Arizona Eastern....

The Arizona Eastern ran a mixed train with passenger cars for a special train... I would like to Thank Earl Knoob for sharing these photo's with us.

The cars were moved for a upcoming special train and thanks to Earl, we also have shots from those days as well.

I love the Blue and White locomotive's...

And this is a great shot, I love how the rows pull you eyes right to the train, Beautiful shot... Thanks Earl...

Well I hope you continue to find this updates entertaining and fun... see you next update, Carlos Llamas
