Hello everybody, hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving.. That's Jeff against a background of sunlit Aspen tree's.

Once again, I would like to wish Artie a Happy Retirement, he made his last run on the Cass Scenic... Best Wishes Artie from one Hoghead to Another.. Enjoy yourself, best wishes and Thank you for your contributions to the Steam World... Carlos

Thanks to Bob Steverson for these great shots...

Monday and Tender 489 is going thru its sand-blasting.. to preserve as much of the original as possible.. only parts of 489's tender will be removed and replaced.

Monday and sunset on tender 489...

Wednesday morning and we are moving the equipment out for another day of Ballast work.. ahead of me is Max on the front end loader already at the rock piles, I am on the backhoe and Ronnie is on Diesel 19...

We had loaded the train the night before and are on our way to Milepost 290.50 with two car loads of rock..

After returning from dumping rock, we are following the equipment back into Antonito over the finished track..

This section of the railroad is completely done, the track has been leveled and lifted and groomed by the regulator.

Rolling west from Antonito, the track feels great and according to my watch.. we are doing track speed at 22 miles an hour on Diesel 19.

I never thought I would see the track like that, its a beautiful thing!!!!

Nov 23rd and we are headed for Antonito to load more rock...

Diesel 19 poses with two ballast cars at Milepost 283.50.

The Tamper is making a few adjustments and we are waiting to follow them into town.

This section of track has been lifted and leveled, next the regulator will come in to groom the track, after which we will probably add some more rock and then the regulator will groom the track once more...

The Ballast regulator takes a break for a few minutes.

That's quite the machine..

Following the equipment into town, again here is a look at more finished track..

That curve was leveled then elevated one inch and it looks great.

Nov 23rd and the tender of 489 has been sandblasted...

Next step will involve it being lifted off its frame and the tank will be rebuilt.

From the sandblasted line down, all the metal will be removed and replaced. I think the railroad hopes to maintain as much of the original tank as possible.

Hey check this out, we found a good use for the Dual Gauge trackage in Antonito.. it has become the winter storage area for the Motor cars..

MW-02 has a home in the shop on Track 3.

Diesel 19 poses on Ferguson Trestle.

We had made our last ballast dump of the day and I took a few minute's to photograph 19.

What a classic pose..

Diesel 19 on Ferguson Trestle..

Ferguson Trestle is also known as "Hangman Trestle".

Rolling for home as the sun goes down....Taken from the walkway of Diesel 19.

Nov 23rd and Tender 489 has been moved into the Antonito Shop, it won't roll out again until its ready for service.

You can see those A-frames over the tender, well those will support the tender when the frame is pulled out.

Tender 489 and MW-02 in the shop.

MW-02 sits next to the locomotive in Antonito...

I thought you would like to see a few shots from our work trains..

We ran this train to bring stuff over the Hill to Antonito, it was a good looking train and we didn't meet up with a single car on the highway up the hill to Cumbres..

We have flatcars in the consist for the tie trains out of Antonito, there are two EBT hoppers for repair and the Caboose's for storage over the winter in Antonito.

We are climbing Cumbres above Milepost 337.

Coming up to Cresco Water Tank..

Passing Cresco Water Tank..

Passing the Dead Fish rocks...

In this shot we passing a short section of Ballast laid down by Marvin and Ronnie.. The curve developed a bad spot and needed some rock for support.

Climbing thru Coxo Curve...

Arrival at Cumbres, we will pick up a damaged car from Chama Steam here..

The Drop bottom gondola with a broken brake pipe has been added at the rear..

Just below the Apache Road crossing..

Good Ole' Rio Grande MW-02.

Jeff Stebbins at the throttle of 488...

We have stopped on the grade above milepost 338...

Had a little problem with old Freight cars locking up on their brakes..

Locomotive 488 poses as the train crew drops a retainer..

Rolling downgrade just above Lobato trestle..

Over the coal and under the trestle...

Hey Jeff....

MW-02 at Sunset in Antonito.

I know, I know the train looks mixed up, but it had alot of passengers onboard..

Double-heading up Cumbres Pass...

We had a Caboose charter and had to add the extra locomotive..

Climbing thru the Big O Curve, just at Milepost 336.

Looking over the Coal to the Caboose's at the rear at Tanglefoot Curve..

Making the curve at Los Pinos...
