This is the "Neopolitan Ice Cream " cut just west of Sublette, New
Mexico... The dirt looks like Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry... |

Okay this may be hard to
Explain, we are at Blanca on a San Luis & Rio Grande train! On the
siding are stored Center Beam Cars! Now look thru the cars, can you
see that track heading out to the right in the picture, That is the
still intact Southern San Luis Valley railroad track...thought you
might like!!! |

Jeff is firing the 487 as we climb Cumbres,
thought you might like this!!! Steam from 487 drifts into the cab
and is sucked up into the firebox, the glow of the fire makes the
steam glow.... kinda spooky huh!!

On 487, we have pulled up the train to load the
passengers! Just to show you how long the train is... the
Caboose's are at the station and the lead locomotive on the train is
way past the tank.. pretty cool, Huh!! |

We are rolling now, I am on 487 with 488 and 484
following along. |

All three locomotives are working together and we are
easily lifting the cars thru the curve below Lobato... |

On October 16th, we moved a few passenger
cars back to Chama along with the Caboose's. |

The Cars will be used on the 2006 Christmas Train out
of Chama and the Caboose's were to used on the Chama Steam 2006
freight and it was a great show, check out the picture's above and
in weeks to come!!! |

Ronnie and Marvin are loading rock.... |

As soon as we clear they will bend the iron and roll
east from Cumbres... they are dumping ballast at Milepost 329. |

October 15th and I am on the
Last run of the year over La Veta Pass on the San Luis & Rio
Grande...
Can you see the track switching off to the right, that track
allowed the Rio Grande to interchange with the Southern San Luis
Valley Railroad. |

I know I am a extremely lucky guy to
work both La Veta and Cumbres Pass on a regular basis, want to share

Rolling thru the Barley Curve, a run
away train left the tracks here a few years back.. parts of the cars
are still here as is all the Coors Barley!! Great place to see
Bears!!! |

The Natural cut, it is said this cut
existed before the railroad got here... the construction crews
didn't have to cut the rock, the cut was all ready there, they just
laid the track thru the natural cut. |

Colorado... The Antonito Crew and I are here to close the building
and winterize the place!!! |

October 18th and before we take Diesel 19
back to its home Antonito for the winter, we will dump another three
loads of Ballast. I
