Good Morning 487, as soon as 488 and the Trains Unlimited Special leaves town, 487 will take to main to prepare for the morning Passenger Train.

Thought you might like a few shots of the train rolling behind us..

Just east of Milepost 302...

We have just crossed the Santa Rita Crossing west of Milepost 302.

Another shot of the curve west of the crossing.

Fall colors and Coal...

Heading into a batch of Aspens...

Looking back we are just a few hundred feet short of Milepost 304.

Freight Trains and fall colors.

We are passing the work camp at milepost 303.95.

After a heavy train, we reach Sublette with just inches of water in the tender....

While the crews changed a Brass Bearing on one of the freight cars, Jeff, 487 and I stayed clear east of Lobato Trestle on the Chama Steam special.

October 23rd and I am in the Chama Shop...

The 488 is in the shop and cooling down...

There is 489 and 488..

I am not sure what's on the repair list for 488, but I will keep you informed.

A look at 489 in the Chama Shop...

The guys began to drain 488, the water is still warm as it pours out of the Blowdown valve..

I will keep you up to date on the happenings in the shop.. keep your eyes open!

Monday October 23 and we are in Chama, We are planning on running a last steam train to Antonito.

I am on 487 and switching the yard in Chama, to the left is 484 and its putting the Chama Steam freight cars away..

We are putting together our train...We will haul 4 flat cars, two EBT hoppers, two caboose's and we will pick up a Drop Bottom Gondola at Cumbres.

Here are our flats and Caboose's.

The Hoppers were being worked on near the shop, we will pick up the Hoppers behind the Flats and ahead of the Caboose's.

I am near the Ash Pit and 484 is working the mainline..

Locomotive 484 is backing a long string of cars into track 4...

Ronnie is on the Caboose and that will be the rear of our train to Cumbres.

Now this is a look at our train for today..

The Caboose's bring up the rear... Caboose's 0306 and 0579 will spend the winter in Antonito as well as Locomotive 487.

Heading east and we come onto the Chama River Bridge... keep your eyes open for more picture's of this train.

Thought you might like these views of 487 and the Flanger 0L.

October 18 and we are back in Osier to drain the water and shut down the building!!

The Osier water tank and thanks to the weather, the icicles are beginning to form.

Another shot of the Osier Tank... it was a bit cold!

Winter has arrived and is here to stay at Osier...

Cold or not, we have to shut the building down.. it has always been the Antonito Crews job to shut the Osier Building down for the Winter.

We try to make it as easy as possible, but its still a big job..

We strap the lift to the flat trailer with chains and haul it to Osier..

Anthony and Ronnie were the brave ones to climb aboard the lift..

We have rebuilt the window covers to our spec's and also to make it easier for us to lift them...

Here is a look at how we use the lift....

October 18th and we are at Osier, have you ever gone for a ride on a Regulator?? Keep your eyes open for more picture's.

Fireman Jose waits to couple me back up to Locomotive 488.

After pulling up to Lobato, I separated from 488 and went across the trestle...

Now 488 and 484 are bringing the train across the trestle.

487 and I and 488 are now above Lobato trestle and waiting for our passengers to board..

Communication is vital to safe railroading, Soni came up from 488 to discuss our plans for our next section of the run to Cresco Tank. In Soni's glasses are the reflection of my Locomotives numbers... pretty cool, Huh!!!

Nearing Sierra Siding...

I hoped you enjoyed this visit to La veta on the last passenger train of 2006.
