A Veteran Engineer I respect very much and have learned alot from and will continue to learn from, walks to the locomotives... Be Safe tonight Larry brown.

Here are the rest of Flood Photographs!!!

The water begins to slow down! I was amazed, but none of the dirt washed away from the track. The Track Crew came in early the next morning and double checked everything.

The water finally began to slow down and lower...

We decided to wait a little longer and make a attempt to roll thru as another storm was rolling in behind us about 6 miles west of our location.

You can see in this shot, how the water was going down. On another note, the wild grass is really green and pretty.

In the end, the Man upstairs shows us how pretty everything is, so what if a little rain shall fall right!!!

A rainbow falls over the nose of 487.

The sun comes out as the water drops.

The muddy water along 487's nose.

We all double check the water level..

Its draining away, soon we will roll the train thru!

Along the curve the track crew had built drainage and although it is a little overwhelmed, it is working and draining water away from the tracks.

Thanks to the track crew, the curve is safe from the heavy water.

There goes all that water.

This may be a problem in the future, have to look at some added drainage in this area..

Locomotive 487 waits patiently.

Check this out, almost a foot of hail piled up along a culvert at Milepost 287. The drainage at this area worked beautifully.

Water drains under the trestle at Milepost 286.72.

Now this is the Dirt road that follows the railroad tracks out of Antonito, that road was out of service for a few days and its quite rough now!

Locomotive 487 and train makes it home with no damage.

Alamosa Colorado, the La Veta turn Crew has been called and are on duty..

Larry and Tyson will take loads over La Veta Pass to La Veta Siding and return.

Three Locomotives and two crew will battle La Veta tonight while Alamosa sleeps the night away..

Locomotive 488 switches the yard in Antonito, we will haul a Ballast car to Sublette for Diesel 19.

Locomotive 488 is on the main with the Passenger train as Diesel 19 switched the yard.

Locomotive 488 and Diesel 19.

Moving stuff around, Antonito is home to the MOW trains and equipment, it can get a little busy some mornings in Antonito.

One of the first EBT Hoppers put into service.

Diesel 19 moves passenger cars around.

Locomotive 488 and Diesel 19.

Two Cumbres & Toltec Veterans.

Both of the Fire Patrols in Antonito.

Diesel 19 and a EBT Hopper, I love those cars, they are quite sharp looking!

Locomotive 488 at Sublette, we left the passenger cars in the clear and pulled ahead to take water.

Now we will back the Hopper into the siding at Sublette, then return to the main for the Train and head to Osier.

Mount Blanca from the train near Blanca, Colorado.

The Tamper and Ballast Regulator have been working the line pretty regularly!

Here the Tamper is rolling into the spur at Osier for the evening.

And there goes the Regulator

Both machines are in the clear at Osier and soon the train will be on its way to Chama.

A not quite full moon and 484 in the dark at Sublette, views from the Moonlight run out of Antonito will be on the site soon.

On the Passenger train passing the Ballast train at Toltec Siding. The EBT hoppers are on the rear.

Passing Diesel 19 and one of the loaded hoppers, it is leaning just a bit to the side....

Now passing the Regulator and Tamper on the west side of Toltec Siding.

Sublette in the Dark...

Early Morning Antonito, and you thought two Locomotives moving around the yards only happened in Chama....

Locomotive 487 off the main, Locomotive 488 backs down the Main.

Thought this would be different, its two locomotives and their rear headlights.

Two locomotives near the Antonito Tank. The cool thing about this is... Marvin Valdez was running the 488 and I was on the 487.. I purposely set up the 487 for the picture's and this older gentleman and I were the only one's taking picture's. He was so happy to be included in spur of the moment C&T Locomotive Photo Shoot.

How about a wide view of the action.

Ready to couple 488 to the train and 487 sits to the left.

Looking at 487 over 488's doghouse.

The Tank, 487 and 488.

A few more shots before I back 487 back into the shop and over the ashpit.

Good Ole' 487.

Locomotives 487 and 488 in Antonito.

The noses of two veterans of the C&T.

Thru the Engineer window of 487 to 488.

Another view of 488 thru 487s window.

Rolling along the San Luis Valley at 45 miles an hour... 7863 and the passenger train are cut in behind two other SL&RG locomotives for the ride to Alamosa.

ST. Mary Railway 1100 in Alamosa, Colorado on Rio Grande Rails.

Looking out of the front windshield of 1100.

The Engineers side of 1100.

The Firemans side of 1100, you can see the fuel plant out of the windshield.

The Engineers view out of 1100...

Looking to the Engineers side of the cab!

The Firemans seat....

Looking out to another locomotive thru the Firemans seat...

Light shines thru the numbers on 1100's nose as I stand inside the nose compartment.

Well say Goodbye to 1100, I will try to keep a track of what's up with this locomotive... I know one thing, I would love to ride this thing over La Veta. Problem is, no dynamics.

7863 and Mount Blanca, rolling across the valley floor east of Alamosa.

Heading over La Veta Pass on Ex-Southern Pacific 7863.

Now lets see if you like these, I am on the firemans seat of 7863... we are looking forward thru the front door window on the right and back thru the mirror out the left window!!!!

Another view of La Veta thru 7863's front door window.

Looking back as we come around Muleshoe Curve....

The Summit at Fir Station...

Beginning our descent of La Veta...

That's Meastas Mountain up ahead, what a beautiful view.

This as close to getting you into the cab with me as I can get.

Heading into the lower tunnel, look to the left and you can see the train following us...

Coming out of the Lower Tunnel.

We are descending La Veta now, what a view.

Passing two SL&RG Locomotives in La Veta.

Looking back as we pass the locomotive's, there's 455.

Well I will see you next week, have a great one!!
