I think I got what my friend wanted, enjoy..... looking out the front window and side windows of 487.

Welcome to Antonito, Colorado.... its raining hard and 487 is locked up against the weather.

A two car train rolls down into station.

Welcome to the base of the Great Pike's Peak and the Manitou and Pike's Peak Cog Railway...

Today I will ride the two car train up and we will follow the single car...

I love this place, its amazing!!!!

We have arrived at Windy Point and have taken the siding to allow a downward train to pass...

I wanted to get a picture of this Young Lady Conductor and was amazed later at the shot I got, the reflection is so cool...

We have arrived at the Summit of Pike's Peak....

These are awesome Locomotives, they climb the hill like nothing... so amazing!!

Looking a bit Southeast...

What a view, I must admit I am a bit afraid of heights.

I love the trackwork required for Cog Railways.

Now this is a view, so Beautiful it could make you dizzy, oh wait that might be the altitude!!!!!

Check this out, I love the track work here... Beautiful!!!

The Summit.

There is room for two tracks here and that's about it.

Now I hope I am right here, this is the remains of the original Summit House...

I am loving the view...

Now check this out, where else can you see a view like this.

The track falls away as the view takes your breath away.

We are rolling down the hill and I am looking back up to the single car following us down back to Manitou Springs. That my friends is a steep grade.

The lights glow in the cab of 487................

September 22nd and I am on a run up the Hill with Soni. Marvin and Orlando are on the helper.

Hey there Soni...

The helper has crossed Lobato trestle and the weather is pretty threatening.

The white stuff is starting up just up the tracks.

Okay, here comes the snow.

We had just passed milepost 337 and boom, we blow a air hose...  after stopping, we find out we had just pulled apart the hoses between the locomotives.

Back on the way again to Cumbres....

Okay the visibility is dropping and snow is getting deeper.

487 is beginning to plow snow....

Isn't this just beautiful, I loved it.

Going past the rocks below 334.

Now check that out, Orlando was way out the window to watch the tracks ahead for all of us.

Near Garcia's cabin and the snow is really coming down.

We have made it to Coxo, you know it was actually a great trip, we never spun the driver wheels or lost traction.

Rolling thru Coxo Curve.

At the summit of Cumbres Pass...

Looking back or trying to look back at the train...

Oh man, that is a meeting of the minds... that's a lot of brain power there...

The Station at Cumbres... she has been thru a lot of snowy winters.

The management makes a decision and we wait for the helper to turn on the wye.

Soni and Alan in the cab of 484.

Looking out the front window of 484 over the Ballast cars and Diesel 19 at Cumbres.

Over the ballast car, 487 can be seen turning on the wye at Cumbres...

Locomotive 487 gets lost in the snow at Cumbres.

Now we will turn the Locomotive on the wye and return to Chama.

Locomotive 484 at Cumbres.

Great shot, I love it....

The backside of 484, I was on the ground to help Alan clean and throw the switches.

The Snowshed at Cumbres...

Locomotive 484 comes back unto the Main at Cumbres.

I am on the Engineers seat running the train down Cumbres.. we are passing Cresco tank.

There is the tank in the snow. Just as a little past the tank and we came out of the snow.

I love these shots, they came out great. It shows how the Cumbres & Toltec tackles all kinds of weather.

We roll into Chama friday and the Motorcars are waiting on Track one.

I love these machines..

There's that Beautiful Rio Grande Motorcar owned by my buddy.

There's Sunny.... motorcar 4054.

I love these things, I want my own!!!!

Good Ole' 2038....

Simply Beautiful...

Now check this out....this guy was prepared!!

Rubber wheels for traction.

Locomotive 487 puts up a cloud in Antonito.

Monday and I am heading to Cumbres and the snow is melting off quickly.

Passing Los Pinos and the track crew...

Arrival at Cumbres... Locomotive 484 poses for the camera.

The classic pose.

Locomotive 484 at Cumbres.

East of the crossing at Cumbres.. we left a car behind at Cumbres.

A helicopter at Osier, that's right... give you all the details later, don't worry it was for fun, no emergency.

Fall comes to La Veta Pass....

Passing chicken rock westbound...

Along the retaining walls....

I will show you more from La Veta next week.

I have come to love this Pass, its beautiful.

See you next week......Carlos Llamas
