Welcome to Gunnison,
Colorado and home of the 268... again! |
_small.JPG) |
I thought you might like to see a few
shots of this locomotive, its beautiful.. |
_small.JPG) |
Its June and Galloping Goose number is in Antonito again,
number 5 shares the yard with 484 and Diesel 19. |
_small.JPG) |
I thought you might just like to see these shots of narrow gauge
equipment spending the night together. |
_small.JPG) |
The nose of Goose 5 and 484. |
_small.JPG) |
I think these came out great.. |
_small.JPG) |
I think its great that we can give Number 5 the ability to roam
over the Cumbres & Toltec. |
_small.JPG) |
All the places that goose roamed and now she's in Antonito next
to 484. |
_small.JPG) |
I love that logo. |
_small.JPG) |
A few close-ups of the wheels for you modelers. |
_small.JPG) |
Can you see the Red passenger cars of the Cumbres & Toltec
shining on the Goose. |
_small.JPG) |
There she is, that beautiful Number 5. |
_small.JPG) |
A detailed look at the
trucks of the tender... |
_small.JPG) |
A view of the front trucks... |
_small.JPG) |
A view from the Coal bunker into the
cab.... |
_small.JPG) |
Now, the cab is locked up but I was
able to shot these thru the window. |
_small.JPG) |
There are the firedoors, good ole'
Clamshell doors, those can be a pain in the Can sometimes... |
_small.JPG) |
Now into the firebox..... |
_small.JPG) |
A look at the grates.... |
_small.JPG) |
Check out those blind drivers.......
pretty cool , Huh! |
_small.JPG) |
Now the cab, that is just
beautiful...... |
_small.JPG) |
Its June 18th and I am in
the Left seat of a SL&RG Locomotive with Earl Knoob in the Engineers
seat..... |
_small.JPG) |
There's Earl.... |
_small.JPG) |
Now look closely, up ahead is smoke
from a forest fire that had just started that day on La Veta Pass... Earl
and I were actually delayed in La Veta for a little while... |
_small.JPG) |
Now here I go again, its June the
25th and I am again climbing La Veta Pass on a SL&RG Train. If you
look closely, there are actually tank cars in the siding at
"Sierra". The SL&RG Railroad with help from the city of Alamosa
hauled 6 tank cars full of water to the Fire fighting crews working
the forest fire over La Veta.... that's quite a nice thing to do to
help out... |
_small.JPG) |
Pulling into La Veta and preparing to
make a meet with another passenger train. |
_small.JPG) |
On the left is the second SL&RG
Passenger train of the day in La Veta... |
_small.JPG) |
Onboard the train is the "Rocky
Mountain Railroad Club" |
