Rail Runner in Los Lunas,
New Mexico.. |
Our Locomotive and Train
Crew.. |
February 4th and Anthony is on top of Diesel
19's rear truck in the shop. |
Anthony and Ronnie will get the Traction Motors
ready for removal. |
The motors have to be unbolted from the truck,
then the guys will have to lift the truck off the wheels. |
Can you see Ronnie there... he is way in there!! |
The Guys are lifting the truck off the wheels, the
wheels and journals drop out the bottom. |
The motors are out... way to go guys!! |
That is a axle with its traction motor. |
A better look for you all!! |
Now I missed the guys removing the covers, but
here is a axle from Diesel 19. |
Max will drive the axle to Chama for
re-profiling!! |
Here is a picture of the axle with its matching
traction motor behind it... electricity drives the motor and the
motors drive the sprocket on the axle. |
A better look at the interior of Diesel 19's
Traction motors. |
Now where was I when the guys were taking
the traction motors off... I was working on a truck rebuild for the
Antonito Parlor Car. |
We have rebuilt any excess lateral motion in the
truck and have replaced a axle.. now we have to put the thing back
together! |
Now I wanted to get a good shot of this set-up..
this is how we compress and remove leaf springs from the trucks
while they are under compression. This is kinda of our little
secret, we worked on and perfected this over about 10 years, but its
works beautifully and safely. This works great for us, I want to
share this with as many people as I can, this is a safe way to
remove these springs, I would rather share our secret than have
somebody get hurt!! |
Take a good look!! all you need is in the picture
right there!! |
February 6th and Locomotive 487 is having
its Smokebox cleaned and inspected. Kinda of a pain in Can, but we
had to remove the plow!!! |
We are going to do a complete inspection on 487!! |
There's my buddy Paul Uhland
near the locomotive in Los Lunas! |
Feb 8th 2007, the snow still sits around,
but its going fast!!! |
We were extremely busy, so thanks to the Track
Crew being back on duty, Rudy and Orlando became switchman and moved
the cars around the yard for us. |
The guys opened the tracks to the Antonito Car
repair shop so they could get to work! |
Rudy and Orlando are working in the Car Repair
facility as we are jammed full in the Antonito shop. They will go
thru each piece of MOW equipment and give them a tune up for the
coming 2007 season! |
Motor car 012 is getting a tune up, new windows
and a new floor and other stuff I missed!! |
There is Max Pacheco, next to him is Orlando and
Rudy!!! |
Such a beautiful
locomotive!! |
Jan 19th and I am riding
South on the New Mexico Rail Runner. |
We are passing a Amtrak train in
station.. I think I recognized Gerald's Head in the locomotive!! Was
that you Gerald?? |
The tail end of the train, we are
on our way to Los Lunas.. |
Hey check out the Turntable.. I
bet it still works!!!! |
A look at some of BNSF's power!! |
Love this locomotive in the new
BNSF paint scheme. |
A old BN Caboose sits waiting for
its next assignment.. |
I understand they use this caboose
for a local job! |
A look at some more of BNSF's
Motive Power!! |
Hey check out 532 there, that was
a four axle locomotive!!! Now is there anybody out there who
could donate about 35 million dollars to my website, I would love to
buy about 6 or 7 of these locomotives from BNSF for my Railroad SLRG
Buddies in Alamosa.. |
Los Lunas, New Mexico....
the hometown of my bestest friend in the whole world. Hi Cortney!! |
Welcome to the Muleshoe on
La Veta.. |
I am very Honored to be riding
left seat for Engineer Ken Reece. |
We are giving Chuck and John a
ride to the bulldozer. |
Ken has switched ends and we are
rolling west with me in the rear locomotive. |
I am looking rearward from the
second locomotive. |
Looking forward as we descend La
Veta's westside. |
There's a bit of snow on La Veta. |
Check out those drifts... |
Mount Blanca looms in the
distance. |
Heading for home. |
