The Rio Grande rides again!!

Welcome to Antonito.. Locomotive 488 is setting up the train for opening weekend!

Locomotive 488 is looking great!!

Tamper, Water Tank and Locomotive 488.

Locomotive 488 came over from Chama on Tuesday and I will show you the picture's!

Locomotive 488!

Switching with 488 in the cold rain....

I figured I would pull 488 over to the fuel track... not sure if it uses Diesel or Gas.

Moving drop bottom Gondola's.

Diesel 19 comes out to move some stuff and set up a work train for tomorrow.

You can see, we still have to paint 19 and the new exhaust is kinda different.

Diesel 19 moving Caboose 0579.

Anthony waters 488 in Antonito.

Locomotive 488 taking a break in Antonito.

These shots came out pretty good.

Diesel 19 and a tanker car are readied in Antonito..

Diesel 19 will spray the weeds today all the way to Chama.

The 19 will start around the loop before heading out on the mainline.

Ready to roll.

And there it goes....

Diesel 19 is in Chama, New Mexico...

We did experience a problem with the lead traction motors, but 19 rolled easily into Chama.

I will let you know what happened to 19 later.

Welcome back to Alamosa and the unloading of 1744... the truck drives the 1744 into position for unloading.

Soon the 1744 will lift into the air.

That's an impressive trailer there.

The driver pulls the chains loose on 1744.

The cab of 1744....

Rio Grande Engineer Eldon Morgan keeps a eye on things.. he is on the left!!

Both cranes and the 1744.

Getting rigged up!

It took a bit to get the rear end rigged up!

Have to be careful, no room for error.

And here we go....

Its lifting....

1744 is floating in the air in Alamosa.

Its not often that a steam locomotive floats in mid air!!

Setting down on the rails...

Ain't that great!!!

1744 is on the rails in Alamosa.

Hope you enjoyed the picture's.

Hope you like the shots, see ya next week!
