Sing it Ernestine!!! |
How about a few views of the train climbing
up to Osier. Here we have just made the curve at Milepost 296 and am
beginning the climb up the middle track of the Whiplash. |
Great reflection in the side of the Tender! |
Rolling downhill above Lava, tank! |
What a great view.. |
I love the view we have here, such a pretty place
to run a train. |
Lava Tank, one of the most remote tanks on the
line, but what a view! |
What is looks like to pass the tank from the
Firemans seat!! |
Ain't she a beauty, my
friend sang at the "Summerfest on the Rio" art festival in
Alamosa... |
Locomotive 488 and I are going to cross the
railroad today!!! |
Locomotive 488 is looking great in her new paint. |
We are taking two passenger cars and three flat
cars to Antonito. |

We stopped to take on a little water and to double
check 488 to make sure she was running okay! |

SL&RG 1744..... |
San Luis & Rio Grande has turned
on the wye in Antonito and will now head for Alamosa... |
Before she does, the Antonito Fire
department will pump another load of water into the tender for the
round trip to Alamosa. |
Soon the tender will have enough
water for the return trip. |
Here is 1744 at the 10th street
crossing in Antonito, to the left is my house and in the background
is Cano's Castle.. a local icon!!! |
Here is 1744 with its test train
of cars. |
The sun is setting and 1744 will
get home to Alamosa in the dark. |

A group of Standard gauge
motor cars arrives in Antonito on the SL&RG Railroad. |
The motorcars sit on the SL&RG
track with the Cumbres & Toltec train parked in the rear. |
Its amazing the new photo
opportunities that have happened in Antonito in just the last year.. |
Standard gauge motorcars next to a
narrow gauge passenger train.. |
This motorcar is the farthest
anything has ever been on these rails. |
Great shot.. couldn't have asked
for better light!!! |
Motorcars and a passenger train. |
I love these motorcars... |
They are shining examples of
preserved railroading. |
Love all the different colors. |
Later this evening the motorcars
will return to Alamosa. |
