Welcome to Walsenburg, Colorado and the Rio Grande Midland Railroad. Mark & Melanie Seibert own and operate this amazing live steam railroad.

I was invited to run my first live steam locomotive on this amazing railroad. Here i am on Locomotive 3420, owned and operated by Harry Bean of El Paso, Texas. On the train is Earl Bean and my Father Pete Llamas.

Welcome to Antonito.. Say hello to Rosita, Rosita joined the Cumbres & Toltec as a ticket agent and she has been a very valuable addition to the railroad.

Welcome back to Chama and the rebuilding of 489.

Here is a close look at the boiler work being done on 489.

I have been trying a few different technique's for getting you good shots of 489.

This live steam locomotive 3420 is owned by Harry Bean and is awesome, I loved running this locomotive.. it was a thrill, just like the full size locomotives!!!

It's Wednesday and we are at Lava, New Mexico.. locomotive 488 is here to make a bit of a rescue!!!

Okay here is the whole story.. After taking the passenger train into Antonito, we left the train behind, picked up the second parlor car and headed back out for Lava, New Mexico.

Diesel 19 derailed in the connecting track at Lava and needs our help.

The track is extremely steep, probably close to 4 percent or more and the two of ballast cars with 19 were fully loaded.

We came to help 19 control the cars during the re-railing.

I thought you might like a few shots of 488 at Lava.

Locomotive 488 is looking pretty good posing in the sage brush.

We are set up and now the guys will work to prepare 19 for re-railing.

Locomotive 488 acts as a anchor to help Diesel 19.

Jake poses next to 19, its kinda of a mess, but we will fix it!!

A look at the Parlor car and 488.

John was working on another section of the railroad, but came to help 19 rerail.

A look at the derailed wheels of 19.. Derailments happen, we deal with them and go on!!

Locomotive 488 and the Parlor Car at Lava..

Well I couldn't take picture's during the actual re-railing so I missed them.

But 19 is rerailed and rolling down the connecting track at Lava, New Mexico..

Once the 19 is safe back on the main, I will back 488 to Antonito..

Welcome to Antonito and the Dispatcher station in the depot.. Here is Cumbres & Toltec dispatcher Ronnica at her post!!!
