Welcome to Chama, Locomotive 487 will do the work up Cumbres Today!!!

Locomotive 488 has the Ballast cars at the loading zone today...

We are shipping the cars to Chama, so we are going to dump ballast on the way!

Jake is loading the cars and we will add them to the passenger train.

The three cars added quite a bit of weight to the train.

The last load goes into the car, now we will back them into the yard and hook them up to the train.

I am riding the rear of the cars for protection..

We are backing back into Antonito.

Back in Chama, we are preparing for departure and you can see a tender sitting next to 487, it is getting some TLC...

Hey check this out, this Caboose is coming out great!!

The work is almost complete on this rebuild.

The Interior is beautiful...

I will keep you informed on the rebuild...

Here we are rolling into Osier... The 488 is actually running the ballast train and dumped some ballast near Long Creek.

Okay I have some bad news...

You are looking at parts that make up one of the gear boxes on Diesel 19..

Something came loose and resulted in a Shredded Spline on the gear box.

The guys slide the motor forward and begin the work..

With help from Caterpillar, the guys took the gear box off for repairs.

A better look at the motor..

I will keep you informed on Diesel 19, but it looks like it will be out service for close to a month.

Back to Osier and we are passing the Ballast train with 488.

Its August and we are having a visit from the Motorcars..

I love all the different type's and colors...

This one is a beauty.

This is pretty cool....

That quite a bit of Chrome..

Back to Osier, locomotive 488 is hauling ballast... while 19 is out of service, the steam locomotive's will help out and run the ballast trains.

Back to Chama and a look at the Caboose...

I tell you what, this caboose came out great!

I love the work on the railing.

Pretty cool... I want to move this caboose so it doesn't get dirty as the trains roll by!

Locomotive 488 has three ballast cars loaded and ready to roll...  it will head out and begin dumping ballast east of Chama, see ya next week!!!
