Here is my Grandfather Selso Lopez on the right and his Buddy Jake Candelaria in Arboles fishing on the Piedra River.... at this time my grandfather was stationed at Arboles on the Rio Grande Railroad..

Okay I am claiming naming rights on this rock.. this is Twinky Rock at Milepost 308.50.. I will have to show Rich and Chuck and my Buddy Butch where this rock is... you can only see it for a second from the train, but its really cool. From the track it is thinner under the balancing rock and looks precarious and its huge!!!

Welcome to the Santa Fe Southern, I thought you might like to see a little of the action going on here in Santa Fe. The New Mexico Rail Runner will enter Santa Fe on 4 miles of SFS track, so this whole section will be upgraded..

The freight train comes into Long Creek....

We are on the Fall Madness freight train....

I know I have been here for a long time, but that bridge is freaking impressive...

What a beautiful structure....

The train comes over the trestle, where else can you see something like that..

That is absolutely beautiful...

Locomotive 488 at Osier Station, Colorado.

Here is 93 tied down on the mainline in Santa Fe. 93 has brought a rail train into the city to be unloaded. The last 4 miles of track in Santa Fe will be upgraded to concrete ties and heavier rail.

Well the Mechanic from Cat came and made the repair to Diesel 19 under warranty... so we took 19 for a test run to Ferguson Trestle.

Diesel 19 made light work of this train...

Heading back to Antonito on a successful run!!

Well it went well, so 19 was sent back to Sublette immediately with a Tie Train and a new addition to the MOW roster... Flat car 6544 recently rebuilt by the friends was pulled behind Diesel 19 for its first run..

Santa Fe Southern 93 is working a Rail train in Santa Fe. Ole' 93 looks great.

Locomotive 488 poses at Milepost 316.95..

I have always wanted to get shots here at this location.

Locomotive 488 looks great against this rock wall.

The Rock here is pretty neat stuff... it fracture's in 90 degree angle's..

The rail you see here removed to the left used to be a guard rail, but we had to remove them in anticipation of the ballast placement.. the Tampers and Regulator will not clear the Guard rail, hence its removal!!!

Good Ole' 488, 488 is in Antonito and has been fired up for work trains... I tell you its been great to be able to run Steam on the Cumbres & Toltec in November.

Cumbres & Toltec 488.

Check this out, I have been seeing this for years.. look closely at the date of the signature.

A view back from 488, what a beautiful railroad.. I am truly a lucky guy!!!

The Train comes across the trestle...What a beautiful thing!!

Diesel 19 is rolling along with its load and Flatcar 6544...

Diesel 19 is stopped at Big Horn for a meet.. its November and Two Separate trains are operating on the Cumbres & Toltec.

It may be winter, but there is alot of action out of Antonito. I am on Diesel 19 heading to Sublette with a load of ties.. Ronnie is on 488 heading from Milepost 305 to Antonito with a Ballast car headed to Antonito for repairs.

Car 6544 is rolling along doing just fine.

Diesel 19 is headed West with ties for distribution between milepost 308 and 306.50 and milepost 303. Locomotive 488 has been dumping ballast and has finished between the Tunnels. From inside Rock Tunnel to Mud Tunnel is fully ballasted and the Tamper and regulator is working those sections now. Locomotive 488 is heading for Antonito and we made a meet at Big Horn.

Cumbres & Toltec locomotives 488 and Diesel 19.

I must admit I am thrilled to see this much action on the Cumbres & Toltec during the off season months.

Back in Santa Fe, you can see the rail being unloaded on a monday afternoon.

Check out that pile of new rail in the background.

That's alot of new Iron there....

My sister took this shot thru the window for me, check out all those new concrete ties... The Santa Fe Southern is going to look pretty sharp here pretty soon.

Another new day on the Cumbres & Toltec.. Two separate work trains are working the railroad today.

Locomotive 488 is headed for Phantom Curve with Ballast and has just taken water, I am on Diesel 19 and will haul ties to milepost 308.

I am in the siding with Diesel 19 and headed for Milepost 303, Locomotive 488 is finished loading ballast at milepost 305 and is passing me for Phantom Curve. What a great November it has been.

Diesel 19 and returned to service, Flatcar 6544 in Sublette.

Good Ole' 93 in Santa Fe, see you next week and I will get more shots from Santa Fe on progress on the Railrunner Expansion..
