Cumbres & Toltec Chief Dispatcher Ronnica Lopez, what a smile!!!

Locomotives 488 and 484 at Cumbres.

Locomotive 488 comes up to pass 484.

I am on 484 at Cumbres and we are waiting just to the side as the the train switches.

The Freight train passes locomotive 484 at Cumbres on the triple header special.

Cumbres & Toltec locomotives 487 and 484.. Locomotive 487 will receive a major rebuild this winter, I will keep you informed on the work.

Locomotive 487 comes up to pass 484, 487 and 488 will head to Osier to bring the train back..

Locomotive 484 holds the siding into the Wye.

The Triple Header has arrived at Cumbres, I am in 484 and you can see 487 smoking and 488 venting steam at the back.

Here comes 487 swinging in the middle as a helper.

I love the stock cars behind me...

Looking back on the triple from the lead locomotive.. we are about to pass Windy Point.

The Antonito Water Tank, for the first time in its lifetime, it is still full of water into december.. made for some cool icicle's.

It was a very cold day, but both trips went well on the Christmas Trains out of Chama.

You can see the extent of uphill progress that day.

The Headlight lights up the steam exhaust as 487 waits for Santa Claus to board the train.

Cumbres & Toltec locomotive 487 at Dalton.

Good Ol'e 487.

The Train consisted of Max and "Gorilla" on the train, with Marvin from the road as support, Ronnie and I and Jose in the Cab.. Stephen brought out a grill and stocked the snack car and even had hot chile and burgers and hot dogs for the passengers.

We ran two trains for Christmas and 487 was the power, I love how the steam was illuminated by the glow of the headlight.

Cumbres & Toltec Locomotive 487 ready for two Christmas Trains out of Chama for 2007.

After this run, locomotive 487 was shut down and will be stripped for a major rebuild, repairs to side sheets, flues and staybolts and a complete rebuild of the cab interior..

We had a great time, but it made for a long day.. we arrived early from Antonito to clean the fire, coal and water the locomotive and the drive home to Antonito took us almost 3 hours due to blinding snow and white out conditions.

Ronnie and Jose are in cab..

There will actually be three of us in the cab today for safety.. we will in places have to plow snow, the more eyes the better!

Cumbres & Toltec locomotive 487.

I love this shot, steam in the winter is a beautiful thing..

Locomotive 487 pulls the train up to the loading area...

Locomotive 487 is steaming up the yard..

Looking good, very cold, but looking great!!

I love how the headlight lights up the steam...

Another day of steam railroading on the Cumbres & Toltec.

Everybody is dressed for cold weather railroading.

We have hooked up 487 and will spend 10 minute's or so charging the train.

Ronnica and I in the Chama Depot..

The Antonito Tank has a collection of Ice on it..

Cumbres & Toltec locomotive 484 in the Chama Shop.

I will follow 487 thru its rebuild..keep your eyes open.

Looking at the work on 489.

From the left, locomotive 484, 489 and 487.

Locomotive 487 after pulling the Christmas train is in for major repairs..

484 in the shop.

Cumbres & Toltec locomotive 484.

All three locomotives in the shop..

I worked on these a little bit on my camera and they came out alot better.

Locomotive 489 in the Chama Shop, I think its going to be ready for a boiler hydro test soon.

Ice on the Antonito Water Tank...

Okay 85 ties have been installled, we dumped 4 cars of ballast and now the Tamper and Regulator will come to do their job.

We dumped downhill from the west switch.. its pretty steep I had to tie down the handbrakes on the ballast cars just to keep them under control on the downgrade.

We will use the connecting track to turn the Christmas trains and so we are going to ballast the track after the track crews replaced 85 ties between the switches.

Diesel 19 is at Lava Loop, We are going to dump ballast here to rebuild the connecting track.

Doesn't that look cool, I mean really cool!!!

We plan to have the track done soon as we plan to turn the entire Christmas Train at Lava.

The track crew replaced 85 ties at the Lava Connecting track and now we are going to dump ballast.

We are going to haul ballast to the connecting track at Lava Loop.

Early morning, beautiful light and Diesel 19, Joseph and I are loading ballast.

Loading the rock at our loading spot..

Diesel 19 with two ballast hoppers, ready to roll in the Antonito Yard.

The Antonito Tank is bathed in Ice!

Cumbres & Toltec Dispatcher Ronnica Lopez, all the ladies from Antonito came over to Chama to run the depot for the Christmas Train.
