Ronnica is dressed up for the Holiday and she has a big box of Donuts, life is good on the Cumbres & Toltec.

We are going to re-gauge this motorcar and another that came with it.. but in order to do the rebuild we have to know what we have first, so a test is in order!!

Today we are making History, for the first time in known history we are going to run Standard Gauge Cumbres & Toltec Motorcars. Not only are we going to run Standard Gauge C&T motorcars but we are going to run them on another railroad.

The first of two Operational Cumbres & Toltec Standard Gauge Motorcars. Onboard will be a 5 man crew of Lawrence, Marvin, Noel, JC and I...

For a short period of time the C&T has and will operate standard gauge motorcars for tests.. Thanks to the our next door railroad for special permission to test the motorcars on the spur of the wye.

JC is looking out the front window of the Motorcar as we come out of the Standard Gauge Wye.

We checked the Motorcars motor and brakes, we also tested the transmission and power... Good News!!!

We know the UP used these cars quite often and put a lot of miles on them, but they were well taken care of, the motor and transmission are in Great Shape..

What a cool thing to see, history in the making!!!

Here comes the Motorcar on one of it's short test runs.

I had a great time making history once again on the C&T Railroad.

The test went very well... now the Motorcar will be stripped for sand-blasting, painting and door replacements.

After some repair in the Friends Car repair shop, the Tamper will now go into the Antonito Passenger car shop for a replacement of one of the lifting jacks on the tamper.. they need the pit to lower the jack down.

Good Morning, its saturday and we are going to run three Christmas Trains out of Antonito today.

Its starting to snow and the weather calls for more...

The train is set up for today, although we will have so many people walk up to buy tickets, we will have to add two more cars later.

Santa Claus will ride the Parlor Car today..

Its a cold morning, but the light snow is pretty...

Now we just have to wait for our passengers.. today we had close to 350 passengers on 3 trains out of Antonito..

We had a great day, Ronnie and Max were in the Locomotive, Sam and Gorilla "Anthony" and Marvin on the train, Kathy and Ronnica and Debbie took turns on the train... and I was Cinder Bear!!! Yeah, you heard it right, I was Cinder Bear for the day.. oh and Lawrence from the Parlor Car was Santa Claus.

Locomotive 488 sits in the snow ready for its first run of the day...

Its 8:30 a.m. and 488 sits in the snow.

Getting ready for our first Christmas Train... Our first departure is at 9:30..

We went thru a combination of all type's of weather.

A cab view of 484 in Chama.

Locomotive 484 in the Chama Shop.

My Favorite, good ole' 487..

It will be busy in Chama this winter..

489 is still undergoing its rebuild and restoration...

Locomotive 484 in the Chama Shop...

You can see locomotive 487 in the background.

Starting from the left: 489, 487 and 484 in the Chama Shop.

Tenders 487 and 484 are outside, they are being cleaned for the winter..

They will have to sit outside and so they will be winterized and such..

Cumbres & Toltec locomotive 484 has done its job, it is posing for photographers and then we will head for home.

What a classic shot..

Cumbres & Toltec locomotive 484 at Cumbres, the freight is on its way to Osier and Jose and I will head for Chama.

Back in Chama, we have turned our locomotive and the shop crew will take over from here..

The Chama Depot with 484 on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad..

Another great year on the Cumbres & Toltec.

I love this shot, so cool!!

The Tamper is in the air and being repaired, it needed a new Hydraulic cylinder and a few adjustments.

Man, I am so happy we have access to a second shop, at this point in time.. we have the tamper in the shop, two passenger cars, the 489's tender, locomotive 488 and the motorcars all going at once.. pretty busy in Antonito.

JC and Noel are under the Tamper and making repairs..

Its busy in Antonito.

The Antonito Friends Car Repair shop.

The new Tamper is in the shop for service and maintenance.. the guys are going to service the tamper for the winter.

The older Tamper is outside and ready for the the winter, they will be stored until the spring...

All the machines were brought in for maintenance..

In the spring the machines will head out to tackle the next section of railroad with new ballast.

I like how these shots come out... cool lighting with the welder going.

The freight special comes into view...

Its amazing how big this valley is compared to the trains..

Making the curve over the hump and down into Los Pinos Trestle.

The train is pretty impressive from here..

Locomotive 487 comes over Los Pinos Trestle.

Here comes the Freight train... locomotive 487 is looking great leading the way.

Bringing the past back into action on the Cumbres & Toltec..

Locomotive 487 is getting a heavy rebuild this winter.. new cab interior and all.. looking forward to 487 next year.

Here comes locomotive 487 on the point as it brings the freight train back from Osier..

Jeremy runs 487 past me and continues to Cumbres..

I am going to have to come back to this spot, it makes for a great shot..

Locomotive 488 is bringin' up the middle of the train... I am near the tracks at milepost 326... I love that load of car trucks on the flat.

There goes 488 pushing lightly towards Cumbres..

There is all my buddies on the rear of the Caboose..
