Steamtown National Historic Site

In April 2008 I had to attend a business meeting in Scranton, PA. While there I couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit Steamtown. This was my fifth visit to the National Historic Site (I go to Scranton more often than I'd like).

My meeting let out earlier than expected on Saturday so I was able to sneak in an hour at the museum before they closed. Sunday, however, was the big day. I stayed an extra night on the chance that I might be able to snag one of the few daily cab rides that Steamtown offers. As it turns out, it was worth the extra time and expense. When I showed up (30 minutes before they opened), I was the only guy in the parking lot. I got the first cab ride of the day and had plenty of time to catch my flight back to Houston. The ride was an experience I'll remember forever... although I truly hope it's not my last. I'd love to ride (and fire or drive) a K36 someday.

My thanks to the Park Rangers and engine crew. Everyone was extremely professional and exceptionally courteous.
