Thunder Chicken Rides Again!

May 21, 2013

The night before we left for home, Oklahoma was hit by several devastating tornados. Even as I write this, my church is preparing a relief trip in a couple weeks to assist with the rebuilding. The weather during our trip home was supposed to be equally bad. Michele and my father-in-law called and asked us to change to a more southerly route. As we left Chama that morning I discussed it with the guys and we agreed to take our chances and take the faster, northerly route back. This would take us very close to the Texas / Oklahoma border and tornado alley.

Despite several concerned family members, we missed all the severe weather and only hit some rain south of Corsicana, Texas. In fact the only incident on the trip was poor Blake having to watch Buc-ee's glide by the window because I refused to stop so close to home. Sorry Blake.

No photos. We were too tired!
