First, I would like to Thank everybody who
supports the Railroad and its Employees, we will continue to do our
best to save this American Treasure! We are Proud of our Country and
Committed to preserving it's History!! What we have here in
this Railroad called "the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad" is a
Living, Breathing example of a Operational Steam Railroad... We
climb one of the Steepest Railroad Grades in the Country, we use
Helper Locomotives, We have Experienced Professional Crews, We use
Tons and Tons of Coal, and when you see our Locomotives at
Full-throttle ...It's For Real, not just for show!!!
The Cumbres and Toltec continues to maintain it's authenticity,
although we do use modern technology and tools.. Our Locomotive's
and Crews run the Railroad just like the good Ole' days. We the New
Generation of Steam Railroaders have learned from the past.. and we
continue to do our best in the Modern Day to Honor the Railroaders
who came before us.. it is our Goal to preserve the Steam Railroad
for the next Generation, the Greatest of Struggles and obstacles
were overcome to Build this Narrow Gauge Railroad thru the Heart of
the Rockies! Countless Men and Women gave the Best Years of their
Lives to these Railroads to keep the Steam Locomotives and Trains
running, hauling the Freight that built our Country... It would be a
Shame to let such a remarkable Jewel of North American Railroading
disappear from this Earth..
