This will become one of the Classic Railroad Picture's of our Time,
it is Perfection and just simply Beautiful, when I saw this Picture
it nearly brought a tear to my eyes.. and my Wonderful Sweet
Beautiful Friend Erika Penninger is the person to thank for this Beautiful Picture. The
First Cumbres & Toltec Double Header in over a Year and more, blasts
up the Grade below Lobato Trestle.. Superintendent Marvin Casias is
at the Throttle of Locomotive 484 and I am the Fireman.. Behind is
Engineer Jeremy Garcia and Fireman Ronnie Lopez on 487.. And
there standing to the Side and waiting for his dad is Justin Garcia,
the Son of Engineer Jeremy Garcia... waiting Patiently in His Bibs
and his Fathers Gloves... |

Saturday and Locomotive 484 is on the Main and Locomotive 487 comes
in on the Siding. 2 Cumbres and Toltec Trains meet at Osier,
Colorado. |

Engine Hostler Marvin Valdez service's 484 in Antonito, you may
remember Marvin from the Winter Picture's in Antonito. |

Marvin Shoots the Rods... he is using a Alemite Grease Gun powered by
air from 484's Reservoirs to force Grease into the Rods. |

The Sun sets and Locomotive 484's rear light shines brightly into
the Dark. |

Marvin is under 484, he is paddle greasing the Hub liners on the
driver wheels. |

This is one of those Classic Railroading Picture's, the day is done
and the night crew takes over to service the Locomotive for another
day. |

Locomotive 484 is at Los Pinos, on this day we had 11 cars and 308
Passengers out of Antonito bound for Chama. |

In Chama, Tender 488, rebuilt in Antonito waits to be reunited with
it's Locomotive. |

A few Dreams for the Future, Locomotive 492 and 483 wait for their
turns to ride the Rails again. |

Locomotive 497's Tender and Locomotive 483, just so you know that
red color is actually a paint and not rust. |

Now here is a few Picture's from inside the Car Inspectors House at
Cumbres, I don't know the details of the rebuild, but thought you may
like to see a few picture's.. it was the first time I had ever been
in the Building. |

You are looking at 4 Driving boxes or Crown Brass Boxes, These boxes
fit over the Journal of the Driver Wheels and hold the weight of the
Locomotive, the U-shaped item on top of the box holds the Spring
that rides over the Wheel. |

Ricky and Tommy are working on installing the Equalizer between #3
and #4 Driver Wheels.. |

The Guys are working on installing the Spring rigging on 488. |

The valve is already installed and so are the slide guides. |

actually inside the Frame of the Locomotive.. |

Here are new parts for the Spring Rigging, there are a few
Equalizers and some Spring Saddle's. |

Here are the Grease Cellars for 488, the box sits below and has a
spring with a flat plate on top of the spring, above the flat plate
is a layer of grease and above that a Curved Screen, this is put up
underneath the Journal of the Driver wheel and provides Lubrication. |

You are Inside of 488's Firebox, all the Flue's have been Rolled and
Beaded, the Arch Tubes are installed and so are all of the Staybolts. |

You are looking at a Completed and installed Driver wheel, you can
see the counter-weight first, with the Spring support and the Brass
Adjustment Wedge and a little Cotton Waist for oil. |

Another View of the Crown Brass Boxes, you can see the U-shaped
piece that will support the Spring and the Groove's on the side are
for the Adjustment Wedge and the Shoe, both made of Brass. |

Donald and Jose are Rolling the Large flues on 488's front end, The
machine standing next to Jose is the Driving Mechanism and Donald is
holding the Roller Device in the first Flue, number three from the
top. |

And now to end this week's Update, Caboose 0479 gets its first real
Truck set installed, it is of a Arch Bar Truck Type and seems to sit
