January 26th 2004, a interior shot of 487's Firebox, you can see the mapping drawn on the firebox surface for the Ultrasound testing!

This is a weak spot found on 487's firebox "mudring" we have since then removed 4 rivets from the area and will put new rivets back in and add some welding!

January 28th 2004, the Cut-out section on the crownsheet...

The actual cut-out section of Crownsheet.

Removed section of Firebox, the edges have been prepped for welding.

January 28th 2004, the removed staybolt caps.

Looking down into the Boiler from above.. you can see the removed staybolts caps and the removed staybolts. January 28th 2004.

A wear spot from a Cab support, it was easier for us to work with Cab removed, but it also allowed us to find wear spots that needed to be repaired.

January 28th 2004, the polished rear flue sheet and the cut-out section on the crownsheet.

I laid on my back in the firebox to shoot this Picture, you are looking straight up into the removed section of Crownsheet, You can see the holes from the removed staybolts, some of the cut staybolts needing to be removed and some of the boiler support rods riveted to the boiler wall.

A closer picture of the above section.

Yet another angle of the removed crownsheet section.

This is a top boiler view of the Cab wear spots.

You are looking at the removed staybolts pulled from the staybolt cups or sockets in the foreground!

Okay back a few days, January 26th 2004, this is Marvin cutting out the section of crownsheet..

The removed Staybolts...

A close-up of the wear spot on 487's bolier.. January 28th 2004.

You are in the Boiler looking over the crownsheet and thru the first row staybolts at the hole left by removed section of Crownsheet.

More pictures of Marvin cutting the Crownsheet.. I think they are just cool looking pic's!

This is a picture of the removed section of Crownsheet, you can see some pitting and this is what required it's replacement with a new section.

Some sparks to end this Update!!!!
