EARLY MORNING IN ANTONITO, COLORADO!!! |
|
Here we are Cleaning the sand out the Boiler after sand-blasting the
Staybolts and Water Jacket on Locomotive 487.. It came out quite
well... it was a hard process, but we did it!!! You can see our
old-faithful Sand-Blaster sitting on the running boards, we ran it
with the new..second-hand air compressor we received from the Chama
Shop... "We don't need no Stinking Private Contracted Sand-Blasters
to do our sand-blasting" Just Joking!!!

In this picture, you can see 487's front end wide open, you can see
the fan we used to suck dust out of the Boiler while I was in it
Sand-blasting... Thank god for Respirators, it was getting kinda
dusty in there, and i want to say Thanks to Marvin and Sam and
Joseph and Ray in the Antonito Shop who kept hauling the sand to the
Sand-blasting to keep me well supplied with Sand!!!!! |
|
In this picture you are looking at the Firebox outside wall, you can
see the staybolt holes, we have beveled out a few to remove small
cracks, after which the holes will be welded up and re-threaded to
accept new staybolts!!!
