Sunday the 30th, 2004.. The Cumbres and Toltec Shops got the work done and as I and Fireman Ronnie Lopez sit in the Cab of 484, Engineer Jeremy Garcia and Fireman Soni Honneggar roll 487 and Train 2 into Osier Colorado.

487 takes the siding and 2 Cumbres and Toltec Locomotives meet at Osier.

Monday the 31st of May, 487 holds the siding as Lunch is served inside the Osier Building.. Train 215 will soon be on its way to Chama.

Soni takes the Throttle on 487 on Train 215, I am using a fisheye to try to bring all of you into our world riding the rails on Steam!

487 climbs the east side of Cumbres and the Coals burn bright inside of 487's Firebox...

I am in the Firemans seat, you can see the Injector handlle is out, 487 is steaming Great and I am putting a steady stream of water into her Boiler, out the window the Hills around Tanglefoot curve float by.

Fresh coal has been put on the Fire of 487 and the Smoke rises above us, the Cumbres Siding floats by on the left..

Soni whistles for the road Crossing and once again Cumbres and Toltec Steam conquers Cumbres Pass.

Train 216 and 484 on the point roll thru the upper curve of Whiplash..

Soni has the Controls as 484 rolls around the curve at Milepost 297, we are just about one hour from Antonito.

Coals simmer inside of 484 as Train 216 rolls Westbound down Whiplash Curve Eastbound for Antonito.

I am in the Firemans Seat looking west to Big Horn Mountain as 484 rolls down Whiplash in a Railroad Eastbound Direction!

484 is rolling across the San Luis Valley floor, Antonito is just a few minutes away..

My day is nearly over,

With the front door open, the injector off, 484 steams and rolls quietly for Antonito.

Amber and Hope Farley visit a Historic Steam Locomotive Cab!!!

The Farley Family stand in front of Locomotive 484, I would like to thank them on behalf of the Railroad and its Employee's, we were honored to have you ride with us and hope you will return. By buying tickets to ride with us the 2nd of June.. they will help us continue to preserve this American Treasure called the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad. Thank you so much from the Employee's of the C&TSR.R. for Riding with Us.

Early Morning, Saturday the 5th of June... 487 gets coaled in Chama..

After cleaning the fire, 487 is getting coal loaded, after we will hook onto the Train.

Those new Cumbres and Toltec Logo's are kinda tricky, at this angle the Tender goes completely Black and you can't see the Logo's at all.

487 in the Chama Early Morning Light.

Doesn't she look Great, even when she is just getting coal loaded.

Sunday the 6th of June and 484 is getting her coal for the day!

Another Beautiful Blue Sky in Chama.

Here is a few shots of 488, her progress is coming along.. you can see the Number 2 and Number 3 Driver wheels have been installed.

Here is the smokebox of 488, you can see the new sheet the shop installed, if you look closely, you can see the gap above where the new sheet will be welded to the old sheet.

Here is a detailed view of 488's Number 3 Driver, you can see how long the Crank pin is, this pin sticking out of the Counterweight will hold first the Connecting Rod, Then the Main Rod and last the Eccentric Crank.

Here is a Close-up shot of 488's upper cylinder which houses the valve that directs steam into and out of the Main Cylinder. You can easily see the ports.

Now what you are looking at is a roll of new Rivets.. the new front flue sheet required all these Rivets to be replaced, the shop did a Beautiful Job putting in all these New Rivets into 488's front Flue Sheet attaching it to the Boiler Barrel.

Here is 488's Firebox, you can see all the Staybolts that will be replaced.

Here is 488's Firebox and the new Sheet installed in the Firebox, It has already been Riveted in place and now just needs to be welded in place and the flues can start going in.

Here is the exterior of 488's Firebox, you can see where will install new Staybolts.

I am on 484 at Osier with Marvin, 487 is coming in on the Main with Jeremy and Ronnie onboard. Thought you might like to see my View of the Trains meeting!

487 rolls closer as Train 1 brings its passengers into Osier, Colorado.

This is the Beginning of 463, but the end of this weeks Update.. I will continue to follow 488's progress in the Chama shops and bring you more scene's from along the Railroad. Thanks you so much for Visiting the Site... Carlos J. Llamas
