Hey Everybody, Welcome to this week's Update, let me Introduce you to my Buddy John Kelly, here He is on Ole' Number 5. This was taken at the Pioneer Live Steamers in June 2004.

Well Hello Everybody, this is Waushakum Live Steamers in Holliston, Ma. This is Fitchburg Northern Locomotive #5, it is Fired on Anthracite Coal, its a Mogul, Runs on 7 & 1/2 inch Track and is Owned by Russ Steeve's.

Here is Don Cornell running His Sandy River #1 on the WLS High Line.

Here is Russ Steeve's and His Number 5.

Here is John at the Controls of Number 5 rolling down the Tracks, I loved this Shot, what a great way to capture what it is like to run a Live Steamer..

Here is the Cab of Number 5 and you can see John's Hand at the Throttle.

Here is John's Model of Rio Grande Locomotive 278.. and its Live Steam, ain't that the Greatest.. if you would like more Info Visit: www.freewebs.com/phrr/locomotives.htm

Here are a few shots taken by Jim Mckeel.. This is me actually running 487 on the Freight Special.

Locomotive 487 comes across Lobato Trestle and makes a Blowdown.

Train 2 comes into Osier. Look at the Steam Trail, its getting cold up here..

Helper 484 is in the Snow Shed at Cumbres, Jose from the Shop was my Fireman, he is in training and is doing Great...

Here I am drifting down to Chama on the Light Engine 484. I am actually using a little bit of Throttle pulling at Coxo Curve, look at the Red Arrow, you can see the linkage on the Expansion link shows that I am just off High-Center on the Johnson Bar.. that is what forward looks like..

Now I am using the Drifting Throttle, look at the Red arrow and you can see I am rolling forward, but my Valve is in reverse providing braking power without any brakes..

Another view of the Helper approaching Lobato Trestle.

Here is the Expansion Link, it is still getting assembled on the Fireman's side of the Locomotive.

Another look at the Expansion Link, the Lever to the right with a hole in it is the Tumbling Shaft.. that is connected to the Johnson Bar by means of the Reach Rod.

A look at the Valve guides and Radius Rod on the Firemans side.

Another view of the Valve Guide.

Here is Slide Linkage for the Radius Rod.

Here is a look at the Tumbling Shaft and the Bracket that holds the Expansion Link.

Here is a Piston with Rings in place ready for installation.

Here is the back side of the Piston.

A look at the inside of the Cylinder, look to the rear and you can see the Hole where the Piston Rod goes thru.

Here is a look at the Cylinder where the Piston Valve goes. You can see the Chambers where the steam goes in and out of the Cylinders.

Now you are looking at some more of the Boiler Supports, The Red Arrow points to where the bracket bolts to Boiler Support and the Blue Arrow points to where it bolts to the Frame, the upper Support does not actually bolt to the Boiler, it bolts to a Saddle with a smooth edge and this allows for the boiler to expand and slide along the Support.

You are looking at the Radius Rod for 488, The slide linkage that bolts to the Expansion Link is on the Radius Rod.

Here is a look at the Inside of the Oil House, you can see the storage tanks and the names of the Different Oils used.

More of the Tanks.

Here the Overlook on La Manga Pass, the Snow is coming down Valley.

Now another look at the Construction in Progress on the Friends Building in Antonito.
