RailFest 2011 - Day 2
May 7-8, 2011
Sunday morning started at 0700 and Whataburger (a Texas institution) provided the chow. We arrived in the yard, raring to go, at 0830. #201 and #300 were already coupled on and ready to depart. We got our tickets in the Depot and got outside just in time to catch the train as it backed up for the first run-by of the day, at the Depot. |
I don't know the origins of this caboose, but if it's real it's been heavily modified. It's sitting along Highway 69 in Rusk in front of the |

The train was backed up to the shop area to give us our first run-by. |

Then she was backed down the turn-table lead and staged for photos. Note the Maydelle VFD filling the tender on #300. |

Note the video camera. The train was less than a foot from it. I had my hand on the tripod and was prepared to yank it out of the way if I had misjudged the distance. Check out the video below. |
